🩺 The first session of the 2025 Healthcare Careers Summer Camp is in full swing here at SVHEC’s Healthcare Training Hub! Campers have been diving into hands-on activities like creating trauma moulages (wounds), checking vital signs, exploring pH testing, and expressing wellness through mental health painting. They also had the opportunity to hear from a speech and language pathologist and learn more about careers that make a difference!

We're only halfway through, and the energy has been incredible! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️🧠💉🎨

Did you know we offer a Clinical Medical Assistant program in partnership with Danville Community College? This hands-on program provides students with technical medical skills and administrative skills.

On May 14, the Healthcare Training Hub (HTH) at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) celebrated the accomplishments of eight students who successfully completed the Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA)

⏳ Time is running out to register for the June 11-13 Healthcare Careers Camp! Limited spots remain, and students must be registered by June 9th. During the camp students will participate in hands-on activities, learn about a variety of health careers, and earn First Aid certification!

We celebrate these students for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance in completing the 240-hour hands-on training program. Special thanks to our partners at Danville Community College who make it possible for the CMA program to be offered in South Boston at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

Healthcare Training Hub staff Teresa Slabach and Natasha Lipscomb deliver Stop the Bleed training to the ProductWorks@SVHEC team and Chief Strategy Officer Dr. Nettie Simon-Owens. Stop the Bleed is a national initiative that empowers bystanders to perform basic bleeding control techniques—direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquet application—until professional medical help arrives. Reach out to us if you're interested in this training for your team or organization.
