Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital and Sentara Mobile Care were proud to attend the Tri-County Mentor Role Model Open House on Thursday, July 17! The event was filled with lots of fun activities including free food, games, giveaway items, and valuable educational resources. It was a great opportunity to connect with community members and support the recruitment of both mentors and mentees who are making a difference in young lives.

We are always honored to be part of events that uplift and strengthen our region. A big thank you to our amazing team members, Stephanie Clay and Corina Hylton, for representing Sentara with heart and dedication!

The DAISY Award is a recognition program established to honor extraordinary nurses for their compassionate care and contributions. Madyson received two nominations from patients' family members regarding the exceptional and compassionate care she provided to their loved ones!

As a part of our annual United Way Drive, we invited our team members and their families to play bingo. The proceeds from the United Way Drive will benefit the: local fire and rescue squads, SPCA, YMCA, Tri-County Community Action, and the Halifax County Cancer Association. Everyone had a great time for a great cause!

Special thanks to the local businesses who donated fantastic prizes! World of Sports, Terry's Auto, Mother Cluckers, South Boston Speedway, NAPA, Abbotts Farm Suppliers, Distinct Impressions, Sam's Kitchen, Badeaux's, and Los Amigos.

Recently, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital awarded three $1000 scholarships through the Dr. Jesse J. Bates Scholarship Fund. These funds were dispersed to the following recipients:

Demaya Coleman – Dental Hygiene
Ashlyn Barksdale – BSN/Nursing
Montana Terry – BSN / Nursing

We were honored to award these scholarships. We look forward to watching them excel in college as they achieve their healthcare career dreams!

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is offering FREE diabetes group classes on July 15th and July 22nd from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The diabetes group classes are available to help you and your loved ones learn to monitor your blood glucose levels, take medication appropriately, plan nutritious meals and snacks, make exercise an important part of your life, manage stress, set goals, understand weight management, and prevent complications related to diabetes.

Both classes are needed to complete the session. For more information or to register, call 434-517-3846.
