Meet the newest team member at Fyzical South Bradenton. He is accepting new clients for Medical Fitness.
Sam Nickelsen is a native of Westchester, NY who most recently moved to Sarasota from Charleston, South Carolina.
Sam began his career as an athletic performance coach and re-conditioning specialist in 2012 after graduating from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor in Human Performance and Exercise Physiology. He went on to complete his Masters in Exercise and Nutrition Science while serving as a Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach at the University of South Florida in 2014. After his time at USF, Sam went on to serve as the Assistant Sports Performance Coach for the University of Tampa while overseeing the holistic development and post-rehabilitation of multiple varsity sports programs.
Following his time in collegiate athletics, Sam went on to work as a Professional Baseball Performance Coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets organizations from 2016-2021. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he assisted the oversight of injury preventative and lifestyle education projects throughout their respective minor league development systems.
Today, he is the Medical Fitness Reconditioning Specialist for Fyzical South Bradenton. Sam holds multiple credentials as a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS-RSCC) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Corrective Exercise Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CES) and is a Level-1 Sports Nutrition Coach (Pn1) from Precision Nutrition. His specialties include post-rehab reconditioning, corrective exercise, strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, nutrition, and lifestyle management. His objectives are centered around elevating quality of life through functional outcomes driven by patient centered care.
In his free time, Sam enjoys carpentry, outdoor sports and spending time with his wife and dog in their home gym.
