Let's talk about the 'Four F's' of trauma response. You might know fight, flight, freeze, but what about fawn?
Fawning is a trauma response where people-pleasing becomes a survival strategy. When faced with conflict or rejection, people might prioritize keeping the peace over their own needs and desires.
For many, this behavior began in childhood environments where the need for love, safety, or acceptance felt unpredictable, so they adapt. They become who they need to be to avoid rejection, tension, or harm.
However, over time this survival strategy comes with a cost of your voice, your needs, and your sense of self. Healing doesn’t mean losing connection; it means learning how to show up authentically, even when it feels risky.
