ST. ALBANS — Northwestern Medical Center and Maitri Health Care are partnering to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care on NMC’s campus, eventually transitioning to a private practice model.

Midwifery is more than a profession — it’s a calling rooted in compassion, advocacy, and deep respect for the birthing journey. From prenatal care to labor support and postpartum healing, midwives walk alongside families with strength, skill, and love.

Maitri is also deeply disappointed by HHS’s decision to no longer recommend
COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy. The science hasn’t changed, COVID-19 remains dangerous in pregnancy and vaccination protects both patients and newborns. We stand by the evidence: The vaccine is safe and effective and we will continue to provide this care to our patients 🙌

May is Maternal Mental Health Month.

According to Postpartum Support International (PSI), “As many as 1 in 7 moms (1 in 10 dads) experience symptoms of depression and anxiety during the postpartum period.

It takes a village. Whether we are surrounded by family, friends, co-workers, playgroups, or strangers, mothers need a supportive community in which to grow and raise their children. Postpartum depression and anxiety can be extremely isolating experiences.

If you or someone you know may be struggling, reach out. We are here for you. You are not alone. It can be hard to ask for help, and it can be just as hard to accept it, but do not stop reaching out. Remember: It is okay not to be “okay.” There is healing. There is hope. We are all in this together.
