🩵💙April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to recognize and honor the unique perspectives, abilities, and contributions of autistic individuals in our communities!

Autism Acceptance Month helps to emphasize moving beyond awareness to genuine understanding and support for autistic individuals.

Some of the ways you can help to make a difference is through supporting organizations that provide vital resources for autistic people and their families as well as through supporting businesses that embrace neurodiversity in their workforce.

What local autism-friendly resources have made a difference for you or your loved ones? Please feel free to share in the comments below! 🩵💙

❤️Happy National School Counseling Week❤️

As school psychologists, we often have the privilege of working closely with school counselors, and we want to take this opportunity to honor and celebrate their invaluable contributions. Their dedication, compassion, and unwavering support are essential in helping students navigate their academic journeys, overcome challenges, and dream big.

To all the school counselors out there: Thank you for everything that you do! Your hard work and commitment do not go unnoticed. We appreciate all the things that you do everyday to create a positive and supportive environment for all students.

Please join us in showing our gratitude and recognition for these amazing professionals!

🌟As we conclude January, the National Month of Mentoring, let us take a moment to celebrate and encourage one another. The role of a school psychologist is profoundly rewarding, offering us the unique opportunity to support students, teachers, and families, thereby making a significant difference in their lives.

However, one of the challenges we face is that sometimes we may be the only school psychologist in our building or even our school district. This can make it difficult to collaborate with others in our field, highlighting the critical importance of mentorship in providing guidance, encouragement and support.

We would love to hear from you about your mentor experiences, whether as a mentor or mentee. If there was a mentor who brought you into the field or guided you in your role, please share the impact they had on your professional journey. Or maybe share about a time where you were a mentor to a graduate student or colleague and felt the positive impact of that experience.

Our hope is to create a supportive community of school psychologists who uplift and inspire each other.🌟

This week President Trump rescinded policy that prohibited the immigration enforcement activities in “sensitive areas,” such as schools. This blog summarizes the key legal protections of students, including those that are undocumented, and specific actions school psychologists can take to support immigrant students and their families. nasponline.org/research-and-policy/policy-matters-blog/supporting-immigrant-families-and-upholding-their-rights
