If I had a nickel for every time someone said, ā€œYoga’s not for me, I’m not flexible,ā€ I’d be rolling in dough! šŸ˜†

Listen up, you’re totally missing the point. Sure, yoga will make you more flexible and strong, but guess what? Flexible people don’t just wake up one day and think, ā€œI should probably become a yogi.ā€

Yoga is all about working with your body to master your breath, especially when things get uncomfortable. When you control your breath, you control your stress. And when you control your stress, you move from survival mode to thriving mode. 🌟

You become fully present, embodied, and in the now. You connect deeply with others and your surroundings. You’ll elevate your frequency, tap into Universal source energy, and fulfill your life’s purpose. ✨

But hey, if you want to try yoga just to get more flexible, go for it! Just be ready to tolerate those other awesome side effects. šŸ˜‰

Quit THINKING about your emotions: here's why. 🤯

We tend to think of emotions as only happening in our mind, or in our thoughts.

ā‰ļø But did you know that emotions only partly occur in the brain?

A large part of the experience of your emotions actually happens in the body! šŸ’Ŗ

šŸ‘‰ You may have heard that the body ā€œholds onā€ to traumas. Little t traumas tend to get compartmentalized, fragmented, and stored below the level of our conscious awareness in the body. šŸ—»

šŸ™Œ Fortunately, craniosacral therapy can address the way that the body holds onto emotions! It has specific techniques designed to address emotions that have held in the body below the level of our conscious awareness, allowing them to come up and be integrated into the conscious awareness.šŸ’

When this happens, it allows for deeper levels of healing of the tissues of the body. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

šŸ“² Share this with someone who would benefit from learning more about this revolutionary therapy.

āļøIf you’re new here, welcome to this post series, the ABCs of CST, where we explore how CranioSacral therapy (CST)may improve both physical health and emotional wellness.

✨This noninvasive, light-tough therapy was designed to improve BOTH physical and emotional wellness. Fostering a profound sense of safety, CST supports the rest and digest branch of the nervous system while lowering fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses. This makes it uniquely suited to address trauma (Big T and little t) at its roots in the body.

šŸ’«Because of experience receiving CST and recovering from complex trauma (C-PTSD) AND traumatic brain injury (TBI), I’m on a mission to bring CST to the public in a new and accessible way. And what better way than the absolute basics, the ABCs of CST.

šŸ’«I recently had a day that would have made the perfect opening montage for a movie about a woman that has the world by the cajones. Said another way, I was with UNIVERSAL FLOW. ✨

If you’re wondering, what is universal flow—and how do I get there!?—I’m here to help.

🌠 Being in universal flow is experiencing a profound alignment with the interconnectedness of all things. It’s a state where you feel attuned to the rhythm of existence, transcending individual boundaries. Imagine a river merging seamlessly with the ocean—universal flow is like that, where your actions harmonize effortlessly with the greater whole. 🌊

Universal flow is akin to the FLOW STATE—but not the same. The flow state, also known as ā€œbeing in the zone,ā€ refers to a mental state where an individual is fully immersed in an activity. In the flow state you experience heightened focus, complete engagement, and a sense of enjoyment. It typically occurs when the challenge of the task matches your skill level. Imagine losing track of time while playing an instrument, writing, or solving a complex problem—that’s the flow state! 🌟

🧐I’ve learned a ton about flow because I spent my first three decades with absolutely NONE of it. I’d watch in awe as mentors walked through life with ease—making things happen all around them. 😲

It was later—when I started healing trauma at its roots in my body—that I began to experience the flow state, with increased efficiency and achievement of my life goals. Then I also began to experience universal flow, with the fabulous synchronicities and great fortunes that come with moving out of compressed survival into expansion and connectedness. šŸ™Œ

ā™¾ļøIf all this sounds woo, according to a guy named Albert Einstein, matter and energy are the same thing—the world is one big mixed-up soup. When we’re in survival mode, we’re cut off from universal flow. When we relax and expand, we can go with the flow.

šŸ“•If you’re wanting to explore this deeper, Chapter 12 of my book is all about fulfilling your life’s purpose by getting universal flow. Check it out at the link in my bio to find your happy place by mastering your brain power and resolving trauma in your body. 🤩

ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ If you want to improve your physical health or emotional well-being, there’s a revolutionary therapy you probably don’t know enough about. Maybe you’ve never heard of it! It’s called CranioSacral therapy—or CST.

Here’s the skinny. šŸ‘‰

This non-invasive, light-touch therapy was designed to improve BOTH physical and emotional wellness. Fostering a profound sense of safety, CST supports the rest-and-digest branch of the nervous system while lowering the fight-flight-freeze-fawn responses. This makes it uniquely suited to address trauma (Big T and little t) at its roots in the body and brain. šŸ’ŖšŸ§

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work, many CST practitioners opt out of digital life in the form of marketing and promotion–which is probably great for their mental health–but not-so-great for folks who are in desperate need of their work. 🧐

Hi, I’m Patricia. I was drawn to CST because it was instrumental in my recovery from growing up with PTSD. After working in the field for a decade I suffered a traumatic brain injury—and because of my history of mental illness—I was involuntarily committed to a psych ward rather than treated by a neurologist. 🧠

My experience navigating my way to safety and recovering via CST pushed me to become an author. āœļø Now, I’m on a mission to bring CST to the public in a new and accessible way.

āļø Follow so you don’t miss a letter of this powerhouse series of posts, the ABCs of CST.

āļø Share with someone who needs this. You’ll learn all you need to know about the hardwiring of your body and brain so you can get in the driver’s seat of your human experience.
You’ll also learn the who-what-where-when-how-whys of the revolutionary therapy that treats both physical health and emotional wellness.

Special thanks to and for originating this series for me!

🌟TIME 100 HEALTH: Celebrating Healthcare Innovators!🌟

On my flight home from the Boston, an article caught my eye: the TIME 100 HEALTH issue, honoring the Most Influential Doctors, Scientists & More. šŸ“°āœØ

šŸ‘‰ I recognized this as an annual listing, which in 2001 recognized Dr. John Upledger, the visionary behind groundbreaking CranioSacral therapy—the very therapy I practice! šŸ™Œ

This esteemed list for 2024 was graced by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk—founder of the International Trauma Conference I’d just attended—for his dedication to creating tangible, credible change for a healthier population. šŸŒŽšŸ‘

As I sipped my morning tea, I reveled in the honor to present my research at his conference alongside psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers from around the globe. šŸŒšŸ“Š

Despite most conference attendees coming from fields of talk therapy, and me from the other side of the artificial divide between mental and physical healthcare, I felt at home. Why? Because we all recognize the inseparability of emotional well-being and physical health. šŸ¤šŸ’™

šŸ” A half-century ago, efforts bridged mental health and trauma treatment. But Dr. van der Kolk’s bestseller, The Body Keeps the Score, reveals how big pharma’s
big pharma saturated the market with psychopharmaceuticals, despite lack of validity for mental health diagnoses, which were created for the purpose of prescribing these drugs.šŸš«šŸ’Š

In his keynote address, Dr. van der Kolk boldly declared, ā€œGet rid of the DSM!ā€ (Diagnostics and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). It’s holding back our field. šŸ“¢šŸ§

His message? Talk and drugs alone aren’t enough. We must delve deeper into the body’s regulatory mechanisms. 🌿🧬

Did you know that gene expression responds just the same to REAL stimuli as IMAGINED ones? This makes imagination a POWERFUL therapeutic tool.

Welcome to the ABC’s of CST—I is for imagination.

The use of imagination and imagery are an integral part of the advanced practice of CranioSacral therapy.
This is because CST addresses old emotional baggage the body is holding onto, when it’s beneficial to the therapeutic process.

The body’s healing processes can be diminished when the body holds onto destructive emotions associated with past negative experiences and traumas.

While the body’s keeping the score of your first heartbreak and your pain-in-the-ass boss, its ability to heal from injuries and illnesses is stifled.

CranioSacral therapy bridges the gap between physical health and emotional wellness, and Imagery is a valuable tool we use to do that.

Imagery and Imagination are used to deepen connection to the subconscious, bringing to the surface old baggage the body’s ready to unload.

As fragmented memories are integrated into conscious awareness, destructive emotions may be discharged from the body, allowing for deeper levels of healing of the body’s tissues.

Based on an amalgam of concepts, SomatoEmotional release reflects Dr. Upledger’s studies of multiple disciplines, including the Gestalt parts work of Fritz Perls, the imagination work of Robert Johnson, Carl Jung’s insights on the unconscious mind, and Robert Assagioli’s model of psychosynthesis.

Do you get the sense that your aches and pains or stress-related illness is connected to issues from your past?
Send me a DM to find out if you’re a candidate for CranioSacral therapy.

If you’re new here, my name is Patricia C. Rogers, and I am an advanced CranioSacral Therapist.

I’m on a mission to bring the revolutionary practice of CranioSacral therapy to the public in a new and accessible way. Each Thursday I’ll be dropping a gem in this series of posts, the ABCs of CST.

In nearly 10,000 people with markedly diminished mental health, more than 53% were determined to have a history of traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Unfortunately, neuroscience and trauma are often overlooked in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.

That’s the problem with the culture that divides neurology and psychology, treating mental and neurologic disorders as separate, unrelated aspects of the human experience.

My life paints a clear picture of how patients can pay the price for this oversight. I grew up with illness, with diagnoses ranging from ADHD, anxiety, depression, anorexia, and cyclothymia to the dreaded bipolar diagnosis. With privilege, intuition and Source, I recovered fully using a neuroscience-based, trauma-informed approach,

But when a car accident caused a traumatic brain injury, I reverted back to my mentally ill behaviors. And in a culture that divides neurology from psychiatry, I was shuffled off to the psych ward, where I had no access to a neurologist, no fall precautions to safeguard against my diminished balance, and no fostering of safety to help my brain and nervous system return to rest and digest after the trauma I'd experienced.

Fortunately, with extreme effort in my severely compromised state, I was able to access the part of me that treats peoples’ brains and nervous systems, helping them heal from trauma.

I navigated my way out of the psych ward and into the hands of a deer colleague. She got me on my feet, usuring my nervous system back into rest and digest and treating my brain to clean, clear it.

In record time, I was able to get back to work four days after release from the mental ward, I returned to work, saved my business, and no one was the wiser.

Do you or an adult child you know struggle with emotional wellness or history of blows to the head or body that may have rattled the brain? Send me a DM and lets talk about whether you’re a candidate for CranioSacral therapy. Get kids treated now and make a huge impact on their life trajectory.

Did you know that the human organism is incredibly adept at maintaining homeostasis?

The part of the brain called the hypothalamus is in charge of regulating the body's homeostasis.

But there are two other parts of the brain that can override that balance– the cortex and the limbic system.

In 'The brain speaks', Upledger instructor, Avadhan Larson states: "The cortex thinks it knows better than the hypothalamus, and the limbic system wants its own way."

Fortunately, craniosacral therapy can rebalance these aspects of the brain, allowing the hypothalamus to take back control and reestablish homeostasis, balancing the body and the brain for physical health and emotional wellness.
