The Patel & Patel family just got a little bigger, and we could not be more thrilled.

Our incredible nurse practitioner, Heather, welcomed two perfect baby boys this past week, Robbie and Drew have officially arrived! Mom is doing beautifully, dad is surviving, and the boys are healthy and perfect in every way.

Heather, you spend every day caring for our patients with so much heart and dedication. Watching you step into this new chapter means everything to all of us. We are so proud of you and so in love with these two little ones already.

Robbie and Drew, welcome to the world. You have no idea how loved you already are. And as the two newest members of the Patel & Patel family, we expect great things. No pressure.

May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month, and this is one we take seriously at Patel & Patel, M.D.

Happy Mother’s Day, especially to Dr. Leela Patel, who somehow managed to raise a board-certified OB/GYN and still comes to work every day and does it all over again for her patients.

That is right, Dr. Leela Patel, our board-certified family medicine physician, is the proud mom of Dr. Akhil Patel, one of our very own OB/GYNs. She raised him, and now they come to work every day and take care of this community together. If that is not a Mother’s Day story, we do not know what is.

At Patel & Patel, M.D., motherhood is something we are honored to be part of every single day. Today we are celebrating every kind of mother, the seasoned pro, the brand new mom running on no sleep, the expecting mom who is equal parts excited and terrified, and the woman who is still on her journey. To every mom who has smiled through the hard days, this one is for you.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Maternal Mental Health Month, and at Patel & Patel, M.D., both matter deeply to us. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. For new and expecting mothers, that truth hits even harder.

Postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety are real, common, and treatable, and yet so many women suffer in silence because they are afraid to say something is wrong. You do not have to feel this way alone, and you do not have to figure it out by yourself.

If you are struggling, please know this, you are not alone, and there is no shame in asking for help. That conversation starts here. We are listening.

Today we are celebrating Star Wars Day the only way a medical practice knows how. We may not have lightsabers, but we do have board-certified physicians, a dedicated care team, and one very enthusiastic office dog who takes his role just as seriously as any Jedi.

Consider this your sign from the Force to schedule that appointment you have been putting off. Annual exam, well-woman visit, primary care, whatever it is, the Force is clearly telling you it is time.
