A diagnosis of an anxiety disorder is typically made by a mental health professional after a clinical evaluation. The criteria include specific symptoms, such as excessive and persistent worry, panic attacks, and avoidance behaviors, that must be present for a certain period of time, as well as the impact on the individual's daily functioning and quality of life.

Self-love is important because it lays the foundation for healthy relationships and overall well-being. When you love and accept yourself, you are better equipped to make positive choices for yourself and to create fulfilling relationships with others.

Additionally, self-love can help to increase self-esteem and confidence, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall mental and physical health.

When you have a positive relationship with yourself, you are more likely to have positive relationships with others and to live a more fulfilling life. It is also a key component in overcoming self-destructive behaviors, addiction, and negative thought patterns.

Physical activity has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health. Regular exercise can help release endorphins, also known as "feel-good" hormones, which can improve mood and reduce stress. Physical activity can also help to improve self-esteem and body image, and it can provide a sense of accomplishment and increase feelings of self-worth.

It's important to consider that physical activity can have different effects on different individuals, and what may work for one person may not work for another. It's important to find an activity that you enjoy and that is appropriate for your fitness level and health condition. Additionally, physical activity should not be used as a substitute for professional help when it comes to mental health treatment. It should be used as a complement to professional help, therapy or medication.

If you’re struggling with your mental health despite all your best efforts, don’t worry. Our team at PsyCare Inc can help. Give us a call at (304) 768-6170 to learn more about what we can do for you.

Spending time outdoors has been linked to a number of mental health benefits. Being in nature has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, improve mood, and increase overall well-being. However, getting outside when it's cold can be a challenge. Here a few things you can do to make it more comfortable and enjoyable:

>Dress appropriately - wear layers of warm, waterproof clothing
>Plan ahead - plan outside activities for the warmest part of the day, and make sure you have all your gear to keep warm.
>Take advantage of winter weather activities, such as iceskating, skiing, sledding, or even snowball fights.

Remember, it's important to pay attention to your body and not push yourself too hard in cold weather. If you start to feel cold, take a break and warm up. And don't forget to listen to your body, if you feel unwell or too cold, it's best to head back inside and warm up.

When experiencing crisis or trauma, humans enter “survival mode.” This is part of the flight or fight response. But what does this actually mean?

Experiencing stressful events affects the way our brains function, and our brains don’t differentiate between real and perceived threats - they just react to them. The “survival” part of our brain turns on, but the “thinking” part diminishes.

Essentially, the brain decides that thinking and other executive functions take too much time and energy to ensure safety and survival. This keeps you alive, but it can also impact your daily life and make it harder to function in society. If you’re experiencing signs of survival mode, don’t worry. Be gentle with yourself, and remember that this doesn’t have to last forever.

If your symptoms have not relented despite time and all your best efforts, you might benefit from professional support. We can help. Give us a call at (304) 768-6170 to see how we can help you get back to enjoying your life.
