Our Evening & Weekend Community Engagement Program continues to grow — and we’re proud to offer unique, person-centered experiences that build confidence, friendships, and independence for adults with ID/DD in a safe and inclusive environment.

We are also now operating on a waitlist for brand new 4-bed group home in the Highlands in Chesterfield County-Shannon’s Place — a warm, supportive residence specializing in care for female-identifying individuals with developmental and support needs. While we're currently full, we are still accepting referrals and would love to speak with you about future availability.

As our agency continues to grow, so does our incredible team. We’re proud to share some exciting updates and well-deserved promotions within our organization:

Dustin Wade has been promoted to Director of Operations. Formerly serving as Director of Clinical Operations, Dustin will now oversee all agency operations and departmental functions.

Jessica Cowick has been promoted to Assistant Director of Operations. Her leadership and dedication continue to inspire excellence across all areas of service.

Tatiana Jordan is now Director of Community Engagement and Day Support Operations. Her vision will drive our programs to new heights as we expand inclusive, meaningful engagement.

Janisha Liverpool has been appointed as House Manager and On-Site Supervisor for Residential Services, ensuring compassionate, consistent, and safe support for those we serve.

Connie Willcoxson has been named Director of Transportation Services, helping ensure mobility and access remain cornerstones of our care model.

Abraxas Home Care is proud to host a citywide school supply drive to support students right here in Hopewell, Virginia. As a committed part of this community, we want to make sure every child starts the school year prepared and empowered.

📅 Drive Dates:

Now through August 9th, 2025
Distribution begins the weekend of August 10th

✏️ We’re Collecting:

Backpacks (all sizes)

Notebooks, folders, loose-leaf paper

Pencils, pens, crayons, markers

Binders, dividers, glue sticks

Scissors, rulers, erasers

Headphones, lunchboxes, water bottles

Tissues and hand sanitizer

🚐 No Drop-Off Needed — We’ll Come to You!

We’re picking up all donations directly. Just contact us to schedule a pickup—we’ll take care of the rest and make sure your generosity reaches the children who need it.

Now Hiring: Community Engagement Coordinator
Abraxas Home Care – Chesterfield, VA

Abraxas Home Care is looking for a dedicated and dependable Community Engagement Coordinator to lead our non-center-based program focused on helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities access meaningful community experiences.

This is not a desk job. We're seeking someone with hands-on care experience who is also able to follow directions, maintain structure, and work closely with our clinical and administrative teams to support individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and facilitate community-based activities and outings

Provide direct support during outings, including mobility and personal care assistance as needed

Maintain accurate documentation and follow established protocols

Communicate effectively with the team and families/guardians

Ensure safety and person-centered engagement at all times

Qualifications:

Experience in direct support, caregiving, or nursing assistance preferred

Strong ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Patience, empathy, and reliability are a must

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
