“The Histamine Bucket”

Imagine your body has a bucket.

Every day, different things add to that bucket:
• foods
• stress
• lack of sleep
• hormones
• heat
• infections
• mold/pollen exposure
• fragrances/chemicals
• exercise
• nervous system overload
• medications
• environmental triggers

For some people, the bucket empties efficiently.

For others — especially those with MCAS or histamine issues — the bucket may already start partially full and empty much more slowly.

This is why symptoms can feel inconsistent or unpredictable.

You may tolerate something one day…
and react to the exact same thing the next.

Not necessarily because the food changed —
but because the bucket was already fuller that day.

When the bucket overflows, symptoms may appear such as:
• flushing
• itching
• hives
• reflux
• bloating
• headaches
• dizziness
• anxiety/adrenaline surges
• rapid heart rate
• fatigue
• brain fog
• shortness of breath

This is also why many people feel confused when testing doesn’t provide one clear answer.

MCAS is often not about ONE trigger.
It’s the total load on the system.

The goal is not perfection or fear around every possible trigger.

The goal is helping lower overall burden so the body has more room to regulate and recover.

What is MCAS? - And what it may look like
(Simple version)

Your immune system contains cells called mast cells.
Mast cells are found throughout the body, especially in places like:
• the skin
• digestive tract
• respiratory system
• blood vessels
• bladder
• connective tissue
• nervous system

Their job is protection.
When the body detects a threat — such as allergens, infections, toxins, or injury — mast cells release chemical messengers like histamine to help coordinate an immune response.

In Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), these cells become dysregulated.
Instead of responding only to true threats, mast cells may begin releasing chemicals:
• too easily
• too frequently
• too intensely
• or in response to things the body would normally tolerate

Because mast cells exist in so many parts of the body, symptoms can appear across multiple systems at the same time.

This is why MCAS may involve combinations of:
• flushing or hives
• reflux or nausea
• headaches or brain fog
• rapid heart rate or dizziness
• shortness of breath
• food and chemical sensitivities
• anxiety/adrenaline surges
• fatigue
• joint or connective tissue pain

One of the most confusing parts of MCAS is that symptoms often fluctuate.

A person may tolerate something one day and react to it the next depending on:
• stress
• sleep
• hormone shifts
• infections
• environmental exposures
• overall histamine load

MCAS is complex, individualized, and still being actively studied, but understanding the role of mast cells can help explain why symptoms that seem unrelated may actually be connected.

(MCAS is complex and highly individualized. This information is shared for educational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or replace medical care.)

As I step into this next chapter of my practice , I want to share more about the work I’m now offering regarding allergies and MCAS.

I am now providing SAAT (Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment).

SAAT is an allergy treatment technique designed to help reduce or eliminate the body’s response to specific allergens. It has been used with food sensitivities, environmental allergens, airborne triggers, chemical sensitivities, and some autoimmune-related conditions.

One of the biggest reasons I felt called toward this work is because of how many people I’ve met who are struggling with symptoms that don’t seem to fully make sense together.

Chronic inflammation.
Food reactions.
Skin issues.
Digestive problems.
Headaches.
Fatigue.
Flushing.
Itching.
Histamine reactions.
Anxiety in the body.
Heart palpitations.
Random sensitivities that seem to keep growing over time.

Many of these people have spent years searching for answers while feeling dismissed, overwhelmed, or stuck managing symptoms.

This is where conversations around MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) have become increasingly important.

MCAS is a condition involving inappropriate mast cell activation in the body. Mast cells are part of the immune system and release chemicals like histamine. When they become overly reactive, the body can begin responding disproportionately to foods, smells, environmental exposures, stress, temperature changes, medications, and more.

For some people, it can feel like their body is constantly “on alert.”

I’ll be sharing much more education and information in the coming weeks because I know many people are suffering quietly and don’t even realize these conditions exist.

If any of this sounds familiar to you, you’re welcome to reach out, ask questions, or follow along as I continue sharing more. 💛
