drink your water out of the fanciest glassware you own

Stop drinking “til it’s clear.” Start drinking “til it’s a nice light yellow.” Clear just means your body didn’t know what to do with all the water because you drank too fast or had too much…so it just spits it out. This is over hydration and it may be what’s making you feel bloated and tired. If you’re trying to meet “the perfect number of ounces” stop listening to the internet and start listening to your body. Ti**le, ti**le baby (in a nice, light yellow)

Jump around! Run! Karate chop 🥋! While you’re sorting through why your body leaks during the thing, it’s actually helpful to still do the thing. This way your body can use its new skills and strengths to incorporate it into your current activity levels. If you stop, then the leakage stops, then you try to start again—you’ve deconditioned other parts of your body and it may take longer to see results. Plus, if your goal is to walk 3 miles without leaking and you’re not walking…like at all…your pelvic floor isn’t getting the very specific training that it needs

Where my hovercrafts at?? Not you. You’re not meant to hover over toilet (certain hiking and portapotty exceptions apply). If you are squatting and hovering, your pelvic floor has a hard time fully relaxing. And guess what needs to happen to urinate? Pelvic floor relaxation. Sure, your body will figure it out…but then guess what it starts to think is a sign to urinary: squatting. Or it will stay a little too tight and your stream won’t be as strong or as long. There’s no perfect science to it, but your body learns from what you do on a regular basis. Also the higher your bum is from the water, the larger the splash zone 😬. Wipe, then sit 👍🏻k?

Going “just in case” is a habit that does a great job of training your brain and bladder that doors=urgency. It can also prevent your bladder from filling, and your bladder is a muscle…it needs to be worked. Going every 2-3 hours with a light straw urine color is ideal. Anymore than that and you’re either over hydrated, forcing yourself to go too much, or your bladder is irritated. But if you’re noticing every time you get to the same place (store, mailbox, home), your body magically thinks the toilet is on fire and your fluids are the only way to extinguish it….you might have done this to yourself, friend

Hot tip: Your bladder needs flat water! 💦 We have to chuckle when people tell us they avoid water while traveling to prevent leaks and urgency….then explain “well I have to have coffee though…and I get bored on the plan so I get a soda water…and we only drink beer on vacation so I’ll have that at the airport…” And your bladder is like 😫 ZERO judgement from us…but can we all stop villainizing water as the source of leaks and urgency? Have a drank 🍹but also sip that water y’all. The water is going to save your bladder from your vacation self 🏖️
