C.I.D.E.R. is a community-based, volunteer driven 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization providing older adults and persons with disabilities living in Grand Isle County Vermont access to the services and resources necessary to live with dignity in their own home and community. C.I.D.E.R. staff and volunteers provide wheelchair-accessible door to door transportation, congregate and home delivered meals, health and wellness activities such as strength and balance training classes, tai chi classes, and home accessibility projects such as wheelchair ramps and adaptive stairs. C.I.D.E.R. also collects and loans special needs equipment such wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, and such, provides information and referral services including our monthly newsletter THE C.I.D.E.R. PRESS, and offers a comfortable setting for individuals, families, and caregivers to discuss the challenges of aging in place in a rural area such as Grand Isle County. C.I.D.E.R. is a membership organization for governance purposes only. No individual is ever charged for a C.I.D.E.R. service, though donations are gratefully accepted. C.I.D.E.R. currently has 2 full time and 9 part time staff, and relies on a pool of over 150 community volunteers. C.I.D.E.R. is a partner organization with the United Way of Northwest Vermont.
