As we recognize Alzheimer's Awareness Month this June, we take a moment to celebrate the memories, stories, and lives that make each person so special. Alzheimer's affects not only individuals but also families, friends, and entire communities. A simple tip for those supporting a loved one with Alzheimer's is to focus on patience and reassurance rather than correction. If someone becomes confused, offering comfort can be far more meaningful than trying to fix the misunderstanding. Small acts of kindness can make a world of difference and help create moments of peace and connection.

Hospice volunteering is such a special way to give back because there are so many different ways to make a difference. Some of our volunteers offer comfort through simple phone calls to patients and their families, checking in with a kind conversation or friendly voice. Even the smallest act of compassion can help someone feel supported, cared for, and a little less alone during a difficult time.

We also have volunteer opportunities for those interested in animal therapy, music therapy, massage, energy work, and even office support for our Volunteer Coordinator. No matter your skills or experience, there is a place for you to bring comfort and kindness to others. If you are interested in learning more, please send us a message — we would love to hear from you!

We are excited to share that we will be at the upcoming Aging Symposium hosted by the Brunswick Health Ambassadors this June!

Be sure to mark your calendars and stop by our table to meet our amazing Liaison, Brooke Gibson Love, who will be there to answer questions, share information about our services, and talk about how we can help support you, or your loved ones with graceful aging needs at home.

We look forward to connecting with everyone in our community and are so honored to be a small part of such an important event! 💙

What an amazing day celebrating some of the most hardworking, compassionate, and all-around incredible people we know — our nursing teams! 💙🩺

Yesterday, we were so excited to treat our nurses to lunch as a small way to say THANK YOU for everything they do each and every day. The love, patience, comfort, and care they pour into others never goes unnoticed, and we are beyond proud to work alongside such an amazing team.

We also discovered something very important… apparently nurses don’t just run on coffee — they need chickens too! 😂🐔

Our team brings so much heart, laughter, and dedication everywhere they go, and we truly couldn’t ask for a better group of people to celebrate this week.

And of course, a HUGE shoutout to our South 1st Care At Home - South Boston Hospice Nurse of the Year, Deborah Davidson! 🎉 We are incredibly proud of you and so thankful for the compassion and excellence you bring every single day. 💙✨

Happy Nurses Week to the heart and backbone of healthcare 💙

This week (and every week), we celebrate the compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication of nurses everywhere. You are the calm in the chaos, the voice of comfort in uncertain moments, and the advocates who never stop fighting for your patients.

From long shifts and late nights to the quiet acts of kindness no one else sees—you make a difference in ways that can’t always be measured, but are always deeply felt.

Thank you for your strength, your skill, and your humanity. The world is better because of you.

May is simply A-May-zing—a time that gently reminds us of just how important it is to care for every part of ourselves. As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s a meaningful opportunity to reflect on something we often put on the back burner: our mental wellbeing. We spend so much time focusing on physical health—and rightfully so—but our minds deserve that same level of care, attention, and compassion.

Taking a moment to check in with yourself can make a bigger difference than you might expect. Sometimes that looks like giving yourself permission to slow down for a few quiet minutes, even if your day feels busy. Other times, it might mean stepping outside for fresh air and letting your thoughts settle, or reaching out to someone you trust just to talk things through instead of holding it all in. Small, intentional moments like these can help create space for clarity, balance, and a little more peace.

This May, let’s remind ourselves—and each other—that taking care of your mental health isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. A little kindness toward yourself can go a long way 💚
