Today is International Women's Day and this March, we are celebrating a powerful intersection: Social Work Month and Women’s History Month. At Alderson Family Connection, we are so proud to be a woman-led organization dedicated to healing and helping our community. Social work has always been driven by the compassion, grit, and leadership of women who refuse to stay quiet when families need an advocate. To all the women in South Holland who are raising families, leading businesses, and supporting their neighbors, we see you and we honor you. Along with National Social Work Month it is also National Women's History Month! So why not talk about a female pioneer in social work who changed the game for all of us, Ida B. Wells. She led anti-lynching campaigns, laid the foundation for modern social work, supported the suffrage movement and so much more in the face of resistance!
