Many endurance and hybrid athletes live in a gray zone of “not quite injured, not quite right” with chronic tendon tightness, lingering niggles, and soft‑tissue issues that never fully resolve. Training errors and biomechanics matter, but the raw materials for tissue repair matter too.

Copper is involved in collagen cross‑linking and connective‑tissue integrity, alongside other minerals. When copper and related nutrients are out of balance, the capacity of tissue to remodel under load can be compromised, making athletes more vulnerable to recurring micro‑injuries.

At Vigeo Health, I combine in‑office mineral and heavy‑metal assessment with practical nutrition and recovery coaching. Instead of telling athletes to “just back off,” we look at whether their bodies have what they need to adapt to the training they’re already doing.

If you’re a coach, PT, chiro, or sports professional seeing recurring soft‑tissue issues in otherwise diligent athletes, feel free to reach out. I’m always open to collaborative care.

If illness is your annual tradition, listen up.

If you’re someone who seems to catch every cold going around — especially during heavy training cycles — your body might be signaling a mineral gap.

One mineral I look at closely is zinc. Zinc plays a powerful role in several systems athletes and high performers depend on:

🛡 Immune resilience – Zinc supports immune cell signaling and helps the body respond effectively to viral exposure.
💪 Testosterone & strength – Zinc participates in hormone regulation that influences muscle repair and performance.
😴 Sleep quality – It’s involved in neurotransmitter activity that supports restorative sleep and recovery.

And here’s the piece many endurance athletes don’t realize:

🏃Long training sessions, heavy sweat loss, and high metabolic demand can increase the risk of zinc shortfalls.

🏃Research also shows endurance athletes may experience higher rates of upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) during intense training periods.

But more zinc is not automatically better. Supplementing without a deficiency doesn’t clearly improve performance and excessive zinc can disrupt copper balance, which is equally critical for oxygen transport, connective tissue health, and immune function.

This is why I always look at the full mineral picture not single nutrients in isolation.

If you’re noticing patterns like:

• Frequent colds during training blocks
• Slower recovery
• Sleep that doesn’t feel restorative
• Strength or hormone changes

…it may be time to look deeper at your mineral terrain.

📍 At Vigeo Health, my Thyroid & Metabolism Mineral Mapping sessions help uncover the mineral patterns that influence energy, immunity, metabolism, and performance. Because the goal isn’t to take more supplements. The goal is to understand what your physiology actually needs.

You can’t out‑train chronic fatigue, brain fog, and random aches if your toxin load is too high

Whether you're an active adult or endurance athlete, over time, small amounts of heavy metals and other compounds can add up and increase inflammation. That’s when you start saying, ‘I’m doing everything right but I feel off.’ This is the science side I love ... looking at what your body is actually carrying, not just guessing.

When we see your mineral and heavy‑metal patterns, we can support your natural detox systems and simplify your supplement stack. If you’re tired of guessing, save this and DM me ‘TOXINS’ for info on sessions at Vigeo Health.

At altitude, oxygen availability drops. Your body compensates by increasing ventilation, heart rate, and red blood cell production. That process is mineral-dependent.

And when you’re training hard at elevation, you’re also losing minerals through sweat and increased respiratory rate.

So if you feel:

🗻 More fatigued than expected
🗻 Slower recovery
🗻 Headaches or poor sleep
🗻 Elevated heart rate that won’t settle

It may not be fitness.
It may be fuel chemistry.

Fuel smart.
Train smart.
Adapt smarter.

Age Better. Move Better. Breathe Better.
On April 19th | 11am–1pm | The Onyx Club Park City (Cardio Room) Onyx Club

I’m joining Ed Harrold and Dr. Taylor Wolf for an immersive, small-group health experience designed to elevate how you move, breathe, and age. This is not surface-level wellness. This is physiology in action.

I’ll be teaching the “Age Better” segment diving into how micronutrient balance directly impacts energy, recovery, joint integrity, hormone balance, and cognitive performance. I’ll explain:

👉 Why mineral imbalances silently affect resilience and longevity
👉 The overlooked roles of copper and boron in bone strength & connective tissue
👉 How mineral status influences cellular energy and brain clarity
👉 What you can do to support strong, vibrant aging

You’ll also rotate through:

🔹 Move Better with Dr. Taylor Wolf — biomechanics & performance
🔹 Breathe Better with Ed Harrold — transitioning from mouth breathing to nasal dominance for oxygen efficiency & cardiovascular health

This is hands-on. Educational. Practical. And limited to just 30 participants for deeper learning.

If you care about performance, longevity, and aging with strength, this event will matter to you.

Your race pace isn’t just about training. It might be about iodine.

If your splits are slowing…
If your hands and feet are always cold…
If your weight has shifted despite clean eating…
If your energy feels unpredictable or flat…

Your thyroid may be whispering for attention. And iodine is only part of the story. I see this often ... especially in high performers and endurance athletes. They’re disciplined. They’re training. They’re fueling well. But something feels “off.”

Here’s what most people miss. The thyroid doesn’t run on iodine alone. It depends on a network of minerals including selenium, zinc, iron, copper, magnesium, and even boron to properly produce, convert, and activate thyroid hormones. Without the right cofactors, adding iodine alone can be incomplete OR even counterproductive.

This is why I never look at iodine in isolation. At Vigeo Health, I assess the full mineral landscape to understand:

• Is iodine truly low or is conversion impaired?
• Are cofactors missing?
• Is stress depleting key minerals needed for thyroid signaling?
• Is your metabolism slowing because the mineral orchestra is out of tune?

Because optimal metabolism isn’t guesswork. It’s physiology. If you’re an athlete chasing performance
Or simply someone tired of feeling cold, sluggish, or metabolically stuck, it may be time to map the terrain.

If your joints hurt but your training isn’t crazy, listen up!

Boron helps regulate where calcium ends up in the body. You want calcium in bone. Not drifting into places it doesn’t belong.

When boron runs low, calcium regulation can get sloppy. That can show up as:

👉Stiff knees.
👉Achy hips.
👉Slow recovery.

Boron also supports vitamin D activity and healthy hormone balance. So when joints complain and performance dips, I look at boron.

Your next race isn’t won on race day. It’s built in the recovery.
What you do between training sessions determines how strong you show up at the start line.

I’m running climbing recovery drills in prep for Spartanrace in April because strength, joint integrity, and tissue resilience don’t just “happen.” They’re supported intentionally. But here’s what most athletes miss:

You can train hard.
You can recover smart.
But if your minerals are of ... your performance ceiling DROPS!

Micronutrient imbalances quietly impact:

👉 Muscle contraction & endurance
👉 Oxygen utilization
👉 Connective tissue strength
👉 Hormone balance
👉 Cognitive focus under fatigue

If you’re serious about hitting your peak this racing season, your nutrition needs to match your effort.
No guesswork. No generic supplement stacks.

Strategic, data-driven support designed around your physiology.

DM me “RACE READY” for a FREE CONSULT and let’s get you the nutritional foundation your body needs to perform, recover, and win. 🏁🔥

Your training deserves precision.

One quiet missing piece for a lot of endurance athletes? Copper.

Copper helps your body actually use iron and build healthy red blood cells, and it plays a big role in your antioxidant defenses. When copper is low, you can feel a lot like you’re iron‑deficient: breathless on climbs, washed out after workouts, and mysteriously flat despite a ‘good’ plan.

Here’s the twist: taking more zinc ‘for immunity’ can actually push copper down even further. So more supplements isn’t always better. It’s about the right balance for your body.

At Vigeo Health, I look at copper, iron, zinc, and other minerals together so we can see the whole picture instead of chasing symptoms. From there we build a plan that supports your energy and recovery without guesswork.

If you’re a runner, Ironman, or Spartan athlete who’s done “all the labs” and still feels like you’re running on fumes, send me a message and I’ll share how an in‑office scan and consult work.
