Our scenic drive was certainly special today as we went to Riverbottom Butterflies, the butterfly farm in Draper, UT. Our instructor showed us up close all the stages of life from egg to butterfly. And our handsomest got to keep the butterfly as an extra birthday gift! If you would like to see our caterpillars grow you can find them at the Front Desk. They'll be flying away real soon in 2-3 weeks!

We had the privilege to learn about black bears from the "Bear Man" himself, resident Dr. Jordan Pederson! A naturalist with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, he spent many years studying black bears and their habitat, lifestyle, adaptations, and behavior in the Hobble Creek-Diamond Fork region of Utah. Dr. Pederson brought a few skulls and paw print molds as well, to help us better understand the subject. Jordan is just one of our many residents who provide a wealth of experience and information we can all appreciate and learn from.
