Hi, I’m Julia! I’m a therapist at Mountain Valley Counseling who has room for a couple more clients.

My approach blends two therapeutic styles- which combines helping clients gain more insight into their patterns and then processing how those show up in our therapeutic relationship.

If this sounds like something that could be beneficial to you, feel free to reach out to me at julia@mvccutah.com. I offer free consult calls to make sure we’re a good fit for one another 😊 I look forward to hearing from you!

On International Women’s Day, a reflection:

Many women were taught to be
accommodating
selfless
easy to love

Therapy often becomes the place where they ask a new question:

Who am I when I’m not trying to be everything for everyone else?

Many of the patterns women bring into therapy—people pleasing, over-functioning, prioritizing others—didn’t come out of nowhere. They were shaped by relationships, expectations, and culture.

Insight isn’t about blaming those patterns.
It’s about understanding them so women can start making choices that feel more authentic.

Freud once said the beacon of mental health is the ability to work and love. Winnicott later added something essential: play.

These three capacities say a lot about psychological wellbeing. The ability to invest ourselves in something meaningful, to form real connections with others, and to experience curiosity, creativity, and aliveness.
When people are hurting, these areas of life often start to narrow.

Therapy can be a place where they gradually expand again.

When someone asks, “What do you need?” and your mind goes blank… you’re not broken.

For a lot of us, needs weren’t modeled, welcomed, or safe to express. Maybe you learned to read the room instead of reading yourself. Maybe being “low maintenance” felt like love. Maybe you became so good at anticipating everyone else that you lost touch with your own internal cues.

Swipe through some of these questions to ask yourself to get more in touch wit your needs.

Meet Erin!

Erin believes trust is foundational to the therapeutic relationship and works to create a space where clients feel safe to share their experiences openly. She takes an Existential-Humanistic approach, exploring how the meanings we make from our experiences shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world.

Erin encourages self-reflection to help clients build awareness of the protective patterns they’ve developed in response to distress, while integrating mindfulness, self-compassion, and strength-based practices to support empowerment and meaningful change.

🛋️ Erin is accepting new clients! Head to the link in our bio to schedule a session with Erin, or send her an email at erin@mvccutah.com!

Loneliness often lives in the unsaid.

The feelings you don’t have words for yet.

The needs you learned to keep quiet.

Therapy helps make space for those conversations, and helps you create more spaces like this in your life.

What if therapy isn’t about fixing yourself- but about telling the truth?

The truth about what hurts. What you need. What you’ve been carrying alone.
