As we approach the end of May, let’s remember that it’s not just about the blooming flowers and warmer weather. It’s also Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shed light on a topic that’s often kept in the shadows. As a mental health therapist specializing in eating disorders, I want to take a moment to remind you all that it’s okay to not be okay.
Eating disorders are not a choice, they’re not a phase, and they’re definitely not about vanity. They’re serious, life-threatening illnesses that affect people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. But here’s the good news: recovery is possible, and it’s never too late to seek help.
Remember, your worth is not defined by your weight or your appearance. You are enough, just as you are. This month and every month, let’s challenge the stigma, spread understanding, and remind each other that it’s okay to reach out for help.
Take care of your mental health, it’s just as important as your physical health. You’re not alone in this journey, and together, we can make a difference.
Stay strong, keep fighting, and remember to love yourself every step of the way 💚
