I'm Kyle Stringham the creator of Purtrek! I’ve lived in Utah at the base of the Wasatch Mountain range for most my life, I've always loved being in the great outdoors. Whether I'm with family or friends enjoying new exciting outdoor adventures, clean accessible water has always been an issue. I've always found carrying water to be troublesome at times being a father of two active kids carrying the weight of the warm water on my back or in the container sloshing around only to run out. Two years ago while leading a Boy Scout Troop on a 21-mile day hike in the western backcountry of Yellowstone. I was crossing a river and was holding multiple trek poles and water filtration systems and parts. When I reached the other side to begin filtering gallons and gallons of water for the scouts I was met with confusing parts pieces and hoses to figure out how it all worked. As I worked through the madness of filtration systems it came to me. What’s always in your hand when trekking and has always just had one function. Hiking stick or pole! And what do I always dread or put off until last minute? Hydrating! Solutions: A quick and dependable yet simplistic approach to hydration. “A trekking pole combined with an inline water filtration pump that can draw pumped water from the end and out the top ready to drink. These are two must items on every outing or hike with a need for water. It also reduces your most common weight and makes it so you will never forget your filtration system again. PurTrek is a needed innovation in the outdoor space combining these two must have tools into one durable quick and easy to use solution that gives reliable results for years to come. With its compact size, you can easily put it away when not in use. This product is for every level of an outdoor adventurer and an environment where there is a water source to stay hydrated. Once you use your PurTrek pole to filter fresh cold water from a river, lake or stream you will never leave on an outing without it again.
We spent the last 2 years developing this product with multiple prototypes and patents that would stand up to the test of reliable regular outdoor use, but would be an extremely high-quality durable product we have come know our great outdoor brands for. PurTrek’s was developed in several different versions until this final version was engineered and designed with "Swarm Product Design Studio" in Salt Lake, Utah. They are an industry leading team of nerdy designers & engineers, and starry-eyed dreamers who live to build. This collaboration has brought PurTrek to a level we are proud and confident to offer to you. The PurTrek pole combines award-winning hollow fiber water filtration media with a low profile internal lightweight pump system that produces more water per pump them most outdoor systems. The pole weighs in at 17oz that's only 4oz heavier than standard a trekking pole. When deciding what materials to use we only chose the best! For the poles, we have used the undisputed durable, lightweight champion material carbon fiber. For the tip of your pole, we have used carbide with a stainless steel collar and an additional rubber cap. PurTrek has integrated a two-stage filter system to protect you. At the base where water enters the system, you will find an easy to clean replaceable 1st stage large particle filter to keep your main filter clean. It’s located just above disk so you get insert itno water floor without causing clogs to filters opening. We have also included three adjustable quality Cam Locks to keep your carbon fiber poles from ever slipping while in use. The hand grip and lower grip were custom designed and tested for all shapes and sizes for maximum comfort with a rubber topographical map inlay to provide superb gripping when taking those nasty hills head-on. As well as a low profile adjustable pole hand strap. This allows for the hand strap to sit closely between the hand and the grip. For the top drinking cap, we have included a silicone lid that opens with a simple flick of your thumb. Next connect the medical grade drinking tube with quick connects to the top of your pole and cold refreshing purified water is only a few pumps away…..Enjoy!
