Very common complaint, don’t put symptoms off. We can help resolve your foot and ankle pain.

It’s Foot Health Fact Friday. Achilles tendonitis and tendonosis are usually caused by a sudden increase of repetitive activity involving the Achilles tendon. Symptoms include aching, stiffness, soreness or tenderness within the tendon, tenderness when the sides of the tendon are squeezed, or an enlarged tendon with nodules where the tissue is damaged. In addition to immobilization and ice, treatment can include orthotics, splints and physical therapy. Surgery may be needed in some cases.

Hammer toe is the result of a muscle imbalance that puts pressure on the toe tendons and joints. Muscles work in pairs to straighten and bend the toes. If the toe is bent in one position long enough, the muscles and joints tighten and cannot stretch out. Learn more on OrthoInfo:

A hammer toe is a deformity of the second, third or fourth toes. In this condition, the toe is bent at the middle joint, so that it resembles a hammer. Hammer toe results from shoes that don't fit properly or a muscle imbalance, usually in combination with other factors.
