What you are looking at is a patient on a spinal decompression table.

Spinal decompression therapy works by gently stretching the spine to reduce pressure on your spinal discs. This helps relieve pain from bulging or herniated discs and improves mobility.

The therapy encourages nutrient-rich fluids to move into the discs, helping them recover. Each session lasts about 20–30 minutes and is usually part of a broader treatment plan.

Talk to your chiropractor to learn how this therapy may support your back health.

Recovering from joint replacement surgery takes effort and patience, but orthopedic rehab can help make a difference.

Stick to your rehab plan, attend appointments, and do your home exercises regularly.

Daily exercises at home are just as important as sessions with your physical therapist. They help maintain progress, strengthen muscles, and keep your joints flexible.

Balance and coordination exercises reduce the risk of falls while stretching keeps your joints limber. Consistency and a positive attitude are your best tools for recovery.

Building strength and flexibility after a sports injury is key to preventing long-term issues.

Strength training helps restore muscle function and joint stability, while flexibility exercises improve movement and reduce stiffness. Balance and coordination drills are also crucial, especially for sports that require sudden changes in direction, like basketball, soccer, or hockey.

A structured rehabilitation plan helps you recover while lowering the risk of future injuries.

If you want to stay active and injury-free, consider incorporating proper rehabilitation and strengthening techniques into your routine.

Why Play is More Than Just Fun in Therapy

For children in physical therapy, play isn’t just about entertainment—it’s an essential part of healing and growth.

Activities like hopscotch, role-playing as superheroes, or engaging in motion-based video games mask the effort while maximizing results.

Play-based therapy keeps children motivated, reduces anxiety, and enhances learning retention.

More importantly, it meets kids where they are—turning therapy into an experience they actually look forward to.

Parents, therapists, and educators—what are your favourite ways to make learning or rehabilitation engaging for kids?

How Gait and Proprioception Training May Reduce Fall Risk

Walking becomes more challenging when balance or coordination is compromised.

Many falls occur during routine movements, especially when turning or stepping over obstacles.

Physical therapists work with patients to improve gait patterns and overall coordination.

Gait training may involve treadmill walking, timing drills, or practicing with obstacles.

Proprioception exercises, which enhance the body’s ability to sense its position in space, may include tai chi or yoga-based movements.

These techniques help individuals move more confidently.

Although they cannot remove every risk, they are a valuable part of a comprehensive approach to fall prevention.

Contact us if you have any questions or feel like physical therapy may help you strengthen or regain your balance.

The Role of Physical Therapy in TBI Recovery

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) recovery is a multifaceted journey, requiring a comprehensive approach to restore function and quality of life.

Physical therapy plays a pivotal role in this process, addressing motor deficits, balance issues, and coordination challenges.

Techniques such as task-specific training and neuromuscular re-education are employed to promote neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to reorganize and form new neural connections.

By tailoring interventions to individual needs, physical therapists help patients regain independence and improve daily functioning.

Early and consistent therapy is crucial for optimal outcomes in TBI rehabilitation.

Healthier Aging Starts with a Plan

Preventive physical therapy isn’t just for recovery, it’s a strategy for living well longer.

With expert support, seniors can maintain mobility, reduce pain, and even improve mental health.

It’s a proven way to cut long-term healthcare costs by reducing injuries and slowing the progression of chronic conditions.

The bonus?

Group therapy and activity sessions also provide much-needed social interaction, a critical component of emotional well-being.

Aging is inevitable.

How we age is not. Let’s help our seniors stay empowered and active with the support they deserve.
