2023: Fast & Furious 💨

The best way to describe this year is like being on a race car moving very fast! A year of trusting faith.

I was engaged, then planned a wedding in 3-months while experiencing many changes.
At the same time, my fiancée (now husband) and I were planning our honeymoon and our move to a different state. Phew 😅
We got to enjoy Italy 🇮🇹 for our honeymoon, then came back home to pack and move across the country for me to start Graduate school. I’ve had to grow and stretch myself beyond what I thought was capable. When life got so busy, I stopped exercising consistently which I really miss. I look forward to changing that this coming year.

As this year ends, I am grateful for the prayers that came true & the strength to be able to maneuver all of these changes that felt tiring. Becoming a wife has truly been a highlight of this year. It’s better to wait for the right partner.

I wish you a wonderful year 2024 ahead! ✨

Some interesting facts about breakfast... Research shows that skipping breakfast has a connection with increased risk for weight gain, Type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome. A simple solution is adding breakfast to the morning routine. Why? Because it helps regulate blood sugar, not just in the morning but though out the day. What to eat?

Balance your meals with other good foods than just carbohydrates (bread,cereal, oatmeal).

Example: 🍽️
Protein: eggs, protein powder in a smoothie
Fat: avocado, olive oil when cooking
Carbs: oatmeal, fruits, greens

*Fiber: found in Fruits, veggies, oatmeal

“I’m NOT healthy like other people” 😔

This is literally what I used to think & I envied people that did. I would have NEVER imagined living a healthy lifestyle if you would have asked me.

I struggled with a lot of stomach issues, lack of energy, anemia & had a cold at least once a month due to my poor eating habits.

I felt exhausted and debilitated by the constant abdominal problems. It was not fun going out or having a social life. I got tired of feeling this way & frustrated that I wasn’t getting any real answers medically. This led me to research and study to become a nutritionist in order learn how to heal myself.

And now in my 40s I am feeling better than I did in my 20s. I overcame the day to day crippling symptoms that I experienced. It is amazing to be symptom free!

A smoothie can be a perfect breakfast if you add all the important macronutrients (protein, carbs, good fats).

I love my morning smoothie because it provides so many nutrients by adding a variety of greens.

For your smoothie here’s some options:

Protein
- protein powder
- h**p seeds

Carbohydrates 🫐
- kale
- spinach
- any greens
- 1/2 banana 🍌 or
- 1/2 cup of any fruit

Good Fats 🥑
- 1/4 avocado
- 1 Tbs. Nut butter
- 1 Tbs. Coconut butter
- 1/4 cup of any nuts
- Fish oil

Add any of these options to your smoothie. 😋

Ice Cream & Heartbreak 🍦💔 (Stockholm, 🇸🇪)

I got to visit Stockholm, Sweden exactly 1 year ago. Their ice cream was delicious. Oh, I love ice cream by the way. 😉 I usually add some coconut flakes or nuts to offset the sugar whenever possible.

I went on this trip to meet a guy I had been talking to and I knew on day #2 that it was not going forward. I cried my eyes out and called friends back home to vent. And then I had the best trip of my life! Met amazing people and explored the city. It was the trip of a lifetime for me. 🤩

Gamlastan (Old Town) was just fantastic!! I spent a lot of time here. Who would have thought that a bad date here would turn around to be where I had the most amazing memories (and ice cream 😜).

Common Mistake: Eating Fruit alone ❌

Eating fruit (or any sugar alone) will spike your blood sugar quickly and it’s not good news for weight loss.

Instead…🫐🌰

A quick snack to eat is pairing a handful of fruit with a good fat. Fat really helps with decreasing the blood spike.

Here’s an example…

A small handful 🫴🏼 of Blackberies (or fruit) with a handful of Nuts 🌰
