Endoscopic sleeve GASTROPLASTY is not the same as Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

In Endoscopic Gastroplasty, parts of the stomach are folded inward to reduce the size, without removing any of the stomach. This leaves behind all of the cells of the stomach that produce Ghrelin, the "Hunger Hormone."

In Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, a segment of the stomach is stapled and removed, not only reducing the size of the stomach (to a larger degree than the endoscopic GASTRPLASTY) but also removing the cells that produce the hormone, Ghrelin.

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty is promoted and advocated as a low-risk, equal alternative to the Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, it is not
