We are calling on our members and partners to take action.
Senate Bill S4037, alongside Assembly Bill A3236, has been introduced and is moving forward in New Jersey. While intended to formalize peer recovery support, these bills in their current form risk creating barriers that could harm the very workforce and communities they aim to support.

Peer recovery is built on lived experience, accessibility, and community trust. These proposals raise serious concerns, including limiting who can serve as a peer, increasing unnecessary regulation, and moving away from nationally recognized standards that already guide this work.

At a time when our state continues to face workforce shortages and growing behavioral health needs, we must protect and strengthen peer support, not restrict it.

We urge our network to contact Senator Vitale and members of the Senate Commerce Committee to express opposition and advocate for policies that truly support recovery.

Learn more. Speak up. Take action.

Wishing you a joyful Chag Pesach Sameach.

We were honored to recognize Christina Fagan as the recipient of the Power of Partnership Award at the 2026 Recovery Ecosystems Conference.

Christina’s journey into prevention and recovery advocacy began after the loss of her son Nicholas to an accidental overdose in 2013. Determined to create change, she founded A Change for Nick, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by addiction while working to reduce stigma and remove barriers to recovery.

Through collaboration with community leaders, organizations, and state partners, Christina helped bring forward the model that sparked the pilot for New Jersey’s Opioid Overdose Recovery Program. Today, she continues this work as Director of the CARES Community Peer Recovery Centers at Prevention is Key.

Christina’s advocacy and collaborative leadership demonstrate how powerful partnerships can drive meaningful change and strengthen recovery support across communities.

A look inside the conversations that made RECO2026 so powerful.

From workforce development and recovery-ready workplaces to peer support, community partnerships, and innovative approaches to strengthening recovery ecosystems, this year’s workshops brought together leaders, peers, providers, and advocates from across the field.

Together we explored new ideas, shared real-world solutions, and continued building stronger pathways to recovery.

Thank you to everyone who facilitated, participated, and helped make these conversations possible.
