There is a new sugar-free drink on the market without any artificial sweeteners. Is it San Pellegrino Ciao! and has just 5-10 calories per can ands 0 to 1 grams of sugar. Delish!

Do you believe that you have to get protein from animal foods? NO, all plants have 9 essential amino acids. Today, I am having black beans on my salad for protein. And don't think you have to eat beans and grains together. That is a myth. Also do not expect animal protein to build more muscle than plant protein.

Did you know that the number one risk factor for stroke is high blood pressure? The best way to avoid high blood pressure is to closely watch your sodium and move! If you are older than 40 don't wait a year between doctor's visits to check your blood pressure.

Just say, NO Way! to Chili's new Big QP Burger for 880 calories, 25 grams of saturated fat (more than 1 day's worth) and 1,670 mg. of sodium. Yikes!

Do you like a little flavor in your coffee but don't want the sugar or sucralose? Try Silk Zero Sugar Vanilla Cinnamon Oat creamer. It has just 10 calories and 0 grams of saturated fat per tablespoon. Yum!

This weekend my friend asked me what my number one nutrition suggestion is. Here you go: eat at least 1/2 cup of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries every day for a big antioxidant punch!

My husband chews a pack of gum a day. I buy him gum which is aspartame free. It is PUR gum spearmint flavored. So if you chew a lot of gum this is a "healthy" one!

Do you need a quick lunch or dinner? My go to fast dinner is a Beyond Burger, the one with 75% less saturated fat, on a whole wheat English muffin and 2 TBs of guac. Delicious! I like baked chips or fruit on the side.

This is my last post on sodium but know that most sliced cheese has between 150 and 250 mg. of sodium. However, Swiss cheese is low in sodium at about 60-70 mg. and low-fat Swiss cheese is also low in saturated fat. A win-win!

Be aware of the sodium in bread. 2 slices of Sara Lee Artesano Multi-grain bread add 440 mg. of sodium to your sandwich. Thin sliced breads are typically lower.

Are you watching your sodium? Be aware of pita chips. For example Stacy's Simply Naked Pita Chips have 200 mg. of sodium as compared to the same amount of Classic lays which have 140 mg. Snacks like air-popped popcorn or lightly salted nuts have even less sodium per serving.
