This morning, we discovered this beautiful chalk message outside our girl's residential home. The bright blue "DAY ONE" jumped out.

More importantly, moments like this remind us of why we do this work. To see young people achieve milestones, claim their journey, and literally write a story on the path they walk every day. To whomever left this message: we see you, we're proud of you, and we're honored to be part of your success story.

Adara, a rising 6th grader at Breakwater School, recently completed a Self-Learning Project in which she asked the Day One Street Program for education around Unhoused Youth. Adara then held a school-wide bake sale and donated the money to the Street Program, asking that we use it to do something fun with the youth! Thanks, Adara! 💜

Community Bake Night for Day One is happening now until 9:00pm at Flatbread Company Portland Maine. A portion of flatbread sales in restaurant, take-out & delivery will help us care for Maine youth & families struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. We're also recognizing 50 years of Maine's only youth residential substance use program and the amazing job current residents did making our display banner to welcome people to the restaurant.
