Happy Full Buck Moon 🦌🌕♑️

🌕 BUCK MOON – Nature’s Rhythm in the Sky
Every July, the Northern Hemisphere is illuminated by the Buck Moon, named after the time when male deer (bucks) begin to grow new antlers.

🔭 Science Behind the Glow:
This is the third supermoon of the year.
The Moon appears up to 14% larger and 30% brighter due to its proximity to Earth (perigee).

🌿 Cultural Echoes:
Indigenous tribes like the Algonquin associated this Moon with fertility, growth, and nature’s renewal.
For agricultural societies, it marked a key moment for preparing the second major harvest of the year.

⚡ Why Watch It?
The Buck Moon affects both wildlife and perception:
– Nocturnal animals shift behavior
– Shadows sharpen, landscapes transform
– Atmospheric distortions make the Moon glow golden

Beltane 2025

Comes now Beltane - or Bealtaine - here in the Northern Hemisphere. Beltane being the anglicisation of this Gaelic holiday's name.

This fire festival, which marks the beginning of Summer and the peak of Spring, begins tonight at Sunset and concludes tomorrow, May Day.

This Pagan holiday celebrates fertility, passion, and the union of masculine and feminine energies.

Beltane was one of four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Samhain (it will be Samhain now in the Southern Hemisphere), Imbolc and Lughnasadh.

Beltane rituals, in which fire symbolically was used to ward against harm, were held to protect livestock, crops, dairy products, and people.

Contemporary Beltsne celebrations draw on a variety of historical, literary and mythological influences, and generally celebrate renewal, growth and the peak of love.

Traditions often include gathering wildflowers and green branches, carrying floral garlands, crowning a May Queen and dancing around a May Pole.
