Keanu Reeves was abandoned by his father at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter died at birth. His wife died in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister has leukemia. And with everything that has happened, Keanu Reeves never misses an opportunity to help people in need. When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants; One cried because he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 and on the same day Keanu deposited the necessary amount in the woman's bank account; He also donated stratospheric sums to hospitals. In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery and bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him. After winning astronomical sums for the Matrix trilogy, the actor donated more than $50 million to the staff who handled the costumes and special effects - the true heroes of the trilogy, as he called them. He also gave a Harley-Davidson to each of the stunt doubles. A total expense of several million dollars. And for many successful films, he has even given up 90% of his salary to allow the production to hire other stars. In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours. Most stars when they make a charitable gesture they declare it to all the media. He has never claimed to be doing charity, he simply does it as a matter of moral principles and not to look better in the eyes of others. This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: To be a good person.❤️

BLISS. 1910. Hugh Baker, age 13, was joyously laughing while his mother Elinore grinned. As a parent, there is nothing that makes me more happy than hearing my children laugh. I hope people will click or zoom the image to enlarge and better see facial expressions.

In three years Elinore would marry Lionel Archdale. Photographer Evelyn Cameron captured many photos of the Archdales, who, like her, were immigrants from the British Isles. The Archdale’s Fiddleback Ranch was on Locate Creek near Knowlton in Eastern Montana, . The Knowlton area is about 50 miles east of Miles City, south of Highway 12. My classmate Karen makes the 100 mile roundtrip every Wednesday to see friends she has known for 50 years.Text and digital restoration of photo by Gary Coffrin.

Holy Jack in the Box, Batman! Denny Looman rode Jesse James to win the 1964 rodeo at Camdenton, MO. Photographer Ferrell Butler captured the bronc at the peak of his spectacular twisting leap from the chute. Looman, a Miles City resident, was the only qualifying rider that year on Jesse James, a magnificent palomino supplied by Hoss Inman. Thanks to John L Moore who drew my attention to the image and the story behind it.
This image is too dramatic to ignore! I did restoration work in Photoshop since my source file was not the best..

I love photos from this era. This image was produced by a superb plate camera that used individual sheets of film, 4x5 inches or larger. Oh, I would love having access to the original negative. (Click image to enlarge)

George A. Custer’s 7th Cavalry camp, 1874. Custer’s announcement of the discovery of gold spurred the Black Hills Gold Rush. Among the towns that quickly emerged was Deadwood, notorious for its lawlessness. Custer’s 1874 Black Hills Expedition included 1,000 soldiers, 110 wagons, 70 Native scouts, four reporters, and two gold miners.
William Illingworth photographed Custer’s huge camp at Hidden Wood Creek in the Dakota Territory. Two years later in 1876, the Battle of the Little Big Horn [River] in Eastern Montana took place one week before the country"s Centennial. Text and digital sharpening of photo by Gary Coffrin. PARTY LINE was KATL"s listener call-in show. Party Line was named after the type of telephone landline connection that was still used in the 1960s in some areas. With a party line, you shared a copper wire connection with neighbors. If someone at another address was talking, you had to wait until he hung up before you could make a call.

Fred Hunnes, KATL"s general manager, hosted the Party Line show during most of my later school years. Bob Gilbert also hosted for a period during the late 1960s. KATL, 1340 on the AM dial, was Miles City"s only radio station.

At the age of 24, Taylor enrolled in the Western Australia Academy of Dramatic Arts, committing himself to an acting career from there on out. He made his screen debut shortly afterward with an appearance on an episode of the drama series "The Flying Doctors" (Nine Network 1986-1993), and landed his first regular television role just one year later.

Taylor joined the Australian soap opera "Home and Away" (Seven Network 1988-) for a 20-episode stint, playing the scheming romancer Nicholas Walsh. Additional recurring roles followed, including a starring position in the crime drama miniseries "The Feds" (Nine Network 1993-96) as Superintendant Dave Griffin. Taylor soon found success on the big screen, appearing in major films like "The Matrix" (1999), "Vertical Limit" (2001), and "Ned Kelly" (2003). After batting around a handful of smaller parts on film and television, Taylor returned to center stage as the star of the crime drama series "Longmire" (A&E 2012-), playing the titular Wyoming sheriff who returns to law enforcement following the death of his wife.

The ancestors of living Native Americans arrived in North America about 15 thousand years ago. As a result, a wide diversity of communities, societies, and cultures finally developed on the continent over the millennia.
The population figure for Indigenous peoples in the Americas before the 1492 voyage of Christopher Columbus was 70 million or more.
About 562 tribes inhabited the contiguous U.S. territory. Ten largest North American Indian tribes: Arikara, Cherokee, Iroquois, Pawnee, Sioux, Apache, Eskimo, Comanche, Choctaw, Cree, Ojibwa, Mohawk, Cheyenne, Navajo, Seminole, Hope, Shoshone, Mohican, Shawnee, Mi’kmaq, Paiute, Wampanoag, Ho-Chunk, Chumash, Haida.
Below is the tribal map of Pre-European North America.
The old map below gives a Native American perspective by placing the tribes in full flower ~ the “Glory Days.” It is pre-contact from across the eastern sea or, at least, before that contact seriously affected change. Stretching over 400 years, the time of contact was quite different from tribe to tribe. For instance, the “Glory Days” of the Maya and Aztec came to an end very long before the interior tribes of other areas, with some still resisting almost until the 20th Century.
At one time, numbering in the millions, the native peoples spoke close to 4,000 languages.
The Americas’ European conquest, which began in 1492, ended in a sharp drop in the Native American population through epidemics, hostilities, ethnic cleansing, and slavery.
When the United States was founded, established Native American tribes were viewed as semi-independent nations, as they commonly lived in communities separate from white immigrants.
