I get asked often, "Hey Dr. Lazzari, why do you like to take x-rays?" Well, there are a few reasons why I do, starting off with these great examples....can you identify what all these x-rays have in common? I'll give you a hint, it's the same exact vertebra for each of them, and it's the second most common area this issue occurs in the low back. They all have L4 Spondylolisthesis, which means that the L4 vertebrae has measurably slid forward in relation to the vertebra below it. This doesn't always happen due to a traumatic event, in these cases the individuals all presented with the same history of non specific, chronic low back pain with no history of trauma. So in these cases, all segments are stable and do not require surgical intervention. However, having this information greatly helps me as a chiropractor provide the best care possible for these patients, by providing specific adjustments, and educating my patients on how they can better manage their low back pain by modifying certain activities. So next next time when your chiropractor wants to take x-rays, listen to them, they are trying to create the best individual care plan possible!
Too see is to know...Not to see is to guess.....And I don't like to guess with my patient's care!
