South Windham Fire Department 100% Volunteer Fire Department that's been serving South Windham and surrounding communities for 100 years.

The South Windham Fire Department is a 100% volunteer fire department providing Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue, Haz-Mat response, and service calls. We operate 4 emergency vehicles a 1997 Freightliner E-One Engine, 2020 Pierce Dash Engine, 2008 Ford Horton rescue truck and 2009 Ford FireMatic brush truck. We also operate a John Deer Gator for brush fires and off road rescue as well as a V hull boat for water emergencies.

Frank J. Harwood, Battalion Chief with Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and member of Kootenai County Fire Fighters, IAFF L2856

Seriously injured in the line of duty:
David Tysdal, Fire Fighter/Engineer with Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, and member of Coeur d'Alene Firefighters IAFF Local 710. Engineer Tysdal is currently fighting for his life and recovery.

When a road is blocked by a firetruck or fire department members and you have to take a detour, please dont take your frustration out on us. Our volunteers leave work/home/sleep/etc to help our community. While we do the best we can to let the public know of road closures with as much notice as possible, we are not always able to give advanced warning. We understand having to take a different way to get where you're going is tough, but we are trying to keep the public safe. If you want to join to help out please reach out to us
