Happy Friday! Please help us welcome our new midwife Julie Louis! We can't wait for you to meet her!

Julie Louis is a Certified Nurse Midwife who recently moved to the greater Hartford area. Julie graduated from Vassar College and SUNY Stony Brook. She built her nursing expertise working at Planned Parenthood and volunteering in Haiti with Mama Baby Haiti. Her commitment to ensuring all people have access to the best pregnancy, birth, and reproductive healthcare experiences led her to pursue her Masters in Nurse-Midwifery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn.

Julie grew up in Philadelphia, where she returned with her family four years ago, and her husband completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at CHOP. During her time back in Philly, Julie crossed the Ben Franklin Bridge to work as a midwife serving a medically underserved population in Camden, NJ. Julie and her husband have also lived in Brooklyn, Long Island, and Boston, rooting for the Mets with varying degrees of acceptance from the locals in each city.

Julie loves knitting, gardening, and most recently sewing, all largely self-taught via YouTube. Her two daughters Finnea is five and Esme is two - were delivered by midwives, Finnea in Boston and Esme in Philadelphia, and it remains to be seen if they will be Mets fans or root for the Sox or Phillies! So far, Julie is smitten with how lush and green Connecticut is in the summer and feels thrilled for her kids to have a real backyard to play in for the first time.

The OBGYN Group of Eastern Connecticut P.C. would like to announce Dr. Hancock's retirement. We wish him all the best in enjoying his family, friends, and hobbies. We apologize for the delay but felt it was best for Dr. Hancock to make his announcement to his beloved patients. Please help us congratulate him on 28 years of servicing the community and taking such great care of his patients.

To All My Beloved Patients,

I’m writing to you today to inform you that after 28 years of service to the Manchester Community, I’ve decided to leave clinical practice at the OBGYN Group of Eastern Connecticut.

Being a healthcare provider today is demanding and takes a high level of commitment of time and effort. I’ve spent my entire life trying to provide the best care possible to you. All of you have taught me new things each day that constantly modified my approach. I’ve viewed my career more as a lifestyle and a calling than just a job. I’ve looked at the long hours spent as opportunities to do good work.

I very much appreciate and respect the trust you have given me to care for your health needs. I thank you for allowing me to be present to care for you during both very difficult and joyous times in your lives. I’ve enjoyed our yearly visits during which time I have gotten to hear how you and your growing families are doing. It has been a joy to watch the babies I’ve delivered grow into productive adults.

The OBGYN Group of Eastern Connecticut will continue to provide you with the highest quality of women’s healthcare available. I leave the group in the very capable hands of Doctors Michaels-Bogdan, Grieco, Graceffa, and Riddle. We also have four APRNs Josie Dumond, Molly Brown, Brianna Owen and Melissa Bartolotta that can serve your “in office” needs. Our obstetrics services have been enhanced with outstanding midwifery care provided by Alexis Warren, Jessica Bridge, and Kathleen Hazel who also provide in office gynecologic care. I encourage you to schedule your next appointment with one of them.

I will definitely miss each and every one of you. I am confident that the group with carry on my legacy of personal care going forward in the future. I thank you again for allowing me to be your physician through the years.

Please help me welcome Melissa Bartolotta, APRN, to the OBGYN Group of Eastern Connecticut P.C.! We are so excited to have her and to have you meet her!

Melissa, originally from the Midwest, has called Connecticut home for most of her life. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Quinnipiac University, Melissa's career has been dedicated to Women’s Health, specifically labor and delivery. Her journey led her to become a board-certified labor and delivery nurse, where she passionately advocated for her patients and their families, providing them with the latest information and education.
Following the closure of her cherished labor and delivery unit, Melissa pursued further education, earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue University Global. She is a proud member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the National Society for Leadership and Success.
As an APRN, Melissa remains committed to advocating for her patients and providing up-to-date, evidence-based care. She aims to create a holistic environment where patients can freely voice their questions and concerns.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and three active children, shuttling them to various activities. She loves baking and cooking for her loved ones, attending theatre performances, hiking, gardening, kayaking, and indulging in knitting and crafting when time allows, channeling her inner Martha Stewart.

Please help me welcome the newest member of our OBGYN team starting in February 2024! We can't wait for you all to meet her!

Brianna grew up in Upstate New York, where she earned her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Colgate University. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at MGH Institute of Health Professions. She has experience as a registered nurse working on a postpartum unit and at an ambulatory women's health surgical clinic. She also earned her master's degree in nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions and worked as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in women's primary care before returning to her passion in OBGYN care.
Brianna is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered to make informed decisions about their health. Some of her clinical interests include prenatal and postpartum care, family planning, and pelvic health education.
When she is not working, Brianna enjoys spending time with her husband and Italian Greyhound. She loves getting outside for long walks and hiking throughout New England. She also enjoys relaxing days inside spent cooking, baking, and sewing pajamas to keep her dog warm through the winter.
