a story of the struggle for survival of their people for over 400 years. Addiction and mental illness are a symptom of this struggle that impacts the people everyday. However, the strength and resiliency that can be found in the community's value system, as well as it's ability to adapt and accommodate in a multi-ethnic society is one to be celebrated and honored. How to support your nervous system:

In the moment
- Lengthen your exhale for a few breaths
- Scan your surroundings, tap into your scenes, and orient your body to the present

Big picture
- Build rhythms your body can rely on (sleep, meals, time outside)
- Move your body in ways that discharge stress
- Stay connected to people who you feel regulated with, who allow you space to tend to yourself

Less obvious supports
- Be intentional with how and when you consume the news
- Spend time in environments that signal safety to your body (nature, quiet spaces)
- Notice which environments or conversations consistently dysregulate you and set boundaries there

When communities experience fear, loss, or injustice together, the nervous system can carry that collective stress too. Naming collective trauma can help us understand why the world can feel heavy in the body. 🤍

Save this for a future moment of overwhelm.

It doesn’t erase the trauma, but it reflects a powerful paradox of the human experience. 🤍

Self-forgiveness isn’t about forgetting what happened or pretending it didn’t matter. It’s about acknowledging the past, taking responsibility where you can, and allowing yourself to move forward instead of staying trapped in shame.

You might still be in the thick of surviving, and that’s okay. Healing from trauma often begins there. But if you’re starting to notice small shifts in who you are and how you see the world, that may be post-traumatic growth beginning to unfold.

Self-forgiveness is an act of compassion toward yourself.

Not because you deserve to feel good despite what you did, but because you deserve the chance to heal and grow and become someone different. Because continuing to punish yourself doesn’t serve the highest version of who you could become.

Allowing yourself to pause, reflect, and rest does wonders for your nervous system.

You don't need to earn rest by being the most productive you can be every day. Rest is not a reward.
