Tommy L Eaton

Tommy L Eaton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 28, 2026, in Oxford, Mississippi, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on August 10, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, Tommy lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Tommy’s journey began in Memphis, where he was born. And later graduated from Horn Lake High School before attending the Memphis School of Preaching. His service as a medic in the United States Army highlighted his dedication to helping others, a quality that defined his character throughout his life.

His professional career was dedicated to serving the community through his 27 years at the US Post Office, where he earned respect and admiration for his work ethic and friendly nature. Beyond his career, Tommy was an avid fan of wrestling and the Dallas Cowboys, passions that brought joy and spirited conversation to family gatherings.

At home, Tommy was a pillar of strength and warmth. He married Pamela Eaton, who stood by his side as a loving spouse. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Eddie (Shelly) Eaton and Ginger (Scotty) Smith, who each treasure the lessons and laughter their father imparted. Tommy’s heart truly shone brightest in his cherished role as grandfather to Lexa Eaton, Kayley Eaton, Makenna Eaton, Sydney Smith, and Evan Smith. Many precious memories were made during fishing trips and joyful times spent together, moments that will forever live in the hearts of his family.

Tommy’s devotion to his faith was evident in his active membership and role as a deacon at the Southaven Church of Christ. He was a good Christian man whose kindness knew no bounds. His friends and family remember him as a funny, warmhearted storyteller who never met a stranger and always made time to help those in need. His gift for fixing things, especially small engines, was a testament to his practical spirit and generous nature.

Even during his final days, Tommy’s spirit was buoyed by the love surrounding him. A touching testament to lifelong friendship, the first visitors at his nursing home were his high school baseball teammates, who came together to honor their 50-year reunion, a heartfelt reminder of the enduring bonds he cherished.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Gretchen Eaton, and his sister, Barbara Eaton Payne. Though the family mourns their loss deeply, they find comfort in the love and legacy Tommy leaves behind.

Visitation will be held on May 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi. A graveside service will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tommy L Eaton’s life was a testament to love, faith, and laughter—a true friend to many, a loving family man, and a soul who brightened every room he entered. His memory will forever be treasured, his stories retold, and his legacy of kindness continue to inspire all who knew him.

We realized something recently… we may have let an important date pass us by. Oops 🤫

One of our owners had a birthday—and in true funeral service fashion, we were busy taking care of families and completely missed posting about it.

We’d like to think that just means priorities are in the right place… but we’ll try to at least remember the cake next time. (There was a cake, just a day or so late🤣)

Join us in wishing him a very happy (and slightly belated) birthday!

John B. Caldwell

John B. Caldwell, known affectionately to all who loved him as "Pop," passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Hernando, MS, after a long battle, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on December 18, 1951, in New Albany, MS, John's life was a testament to unyielding dedication, generous spirit, he always wanted to get a laugh out of you ( Refer back to the picture :) ) and an enduring love for those closest to him.

From the very beginning, John was a man who never sat still until he had to. His hands were always busy—whether working around the house, tending to yard work, or sharing a friendly game of poker. He had a zest for life and especially delighted in evenings spent at Riverside races, embracing the simple joys with infectious enthusiasm. Those who knew John recognized a workaholic who found purpose and satisfaction in his labors, yet he was more than that—he was one of the most generous people his children ever knew, a man who never said no, even when it might have been to his own fault.

John’s career, though not often the center of his conversations, was just one facet of his remarkable life. For those who loved him, what truly defined John was his generous heart. His family was his pride and joy—his loving wife of 41 years, Tracy Caldwell, stood steadfastly by his side through every step of their journey. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family that John cherished deeply.

He was the proud father of five children: Wendy Belt and Felecia Coulter of Bartlett, TN; Tiffany Nugent of Walls, MS; Amy Statler of Hernando, MS; and Chad Conner of Holly Springs, MS. To his sixteen grandchildren, John was nothing short of a hero, affectionately known as "Pop," and his love extended tenderly to his great-granddaughter and another great-grandchild on the way—a legacy of family that lived in every smile they shared.

John's siblings, sister Trisha Brink and brother Larry McMullan, carry with them the memory of their brother’s unwavering kindness and strength. Though parents Everrette and Doris Caldwell as well as siblings Jean and Jerry Caldwell preceded him in death, their memories remain etched in the fabric of John’s life.

A member of West End Church in Walls, MS, John found community and spiritual solace in his church family, grounding himself with faith as a cornerstone of his life.

John’s memory will forever glow in the hearts of those who knew him: a man who loved his grandkids so much, who always took care of people, who generously offered his spirit without hesitation, and who found joy in hard work and family gatherings. The legacy he leaves behind is not simply in names and dates but in enduring love, a quiet strength, and the countless moments of kindness that defined his remarkable journey.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered—as a husband, a father, a “Pop,” and a man who lived with a generous heart and a busy hand until his very last breath.

Born on May 6, 1939, in Lepanto, Arkansas, Dortha lived a life marked by unwavering love, steadfast honesty, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Dortha was a woman of remarkable strength and straightforwardness, blending blunt honesty with a tender heart. She was known for her tough love, always guiding her family with a firm but caring hand and an open heart. One of her enduring pleasures was generously creating embroidered linens for her family—a delicate craft that reflected her love of embroidery and sewing. Each stitch was a testament to the devotion she bore for those closest to her.

Throughout her life, Dortha was a devoted wife, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother. She delighted in sharing adventures with her beloved husband, Joseph Smith, as they traveled together, making memories that enriched their years. Though Joseph preceded her in death, Dortha’s spirit remained vibrantly alive in the lives of her children: Barry (Rachel) Smith, Cherry Pickering, and Cynthia Barnum. Her legacy blooms further through her grandchildren—John (Julie) Smith, Matt Abel, Jacob (Jane Claire) Abel, Mikey (Rachel) Smith, Nick Abel, Hannah (Hunter) Haswell, Robby (Kayla) Montgomery, Robin Sowell, Jenny (Chris) Freire, Sarah (Carlos) Hayes, and Deanna Billingsley—as well as an incredible family of 27 great-grandchildren who continue to celebrate her memory.

Dortha also cherished the close bonds with her siblings Joe (Margaret) Mattson, Marion Todd, Kitty Dunkle, and Donald Mattson. Though she was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Dorthy Mattson, and siblings Harry, Clinton, and Thomas Mattson, Dortha’s enduring legacy is found in the deep and abiding connections she maintained with her living family members and a host of other family and friends whose lives she touched.

A true matriarch, Dortha was proud of her flourishing family—her children and grandchildren were the cornerstone of her life’s greatest accomplishments. She nurtured life both in her family and in her garden, where she grew new color roses every year, symbolizing her ability to bring beauty and growth wherever she turned her nurturing hands.

Despite the challenges life brought, Dortha was always making a way for her loved ones, even when it seemed impossible. Her resilience and dedication were evident in her busy life, filled with care, love, and meaningful connections. Her personality was unmistakably genuine—loving and generous, yet never afraid to be honest and direct.

Services to honor Dortha Smith's life will be held at Heartland Church, located at 3580 Getwell Rd, Southaven, Mississippi. Visitation will take place on April 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dortha’s journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit, kindness, and the lessons she imparted on love, honesty, and generosity will forever be etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love and strength, a lasting testament to a life well-lived. May she rest in peace, embraced by the same warmth and devotion she so freely gave.

Rose Marie Brock Loftis Yates

Rose Marie Brock Loftis Yates, affectionately known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Mom-Mom," passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Olive Branch, Mississippi, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 12, 1939, in West, Mississippi, Rose Marie was a cherished soul whose vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.

Rose Marie's journey began in West, MS, where she graduated from high school before attending Holmes Junior College. In 1960, following her marriage, she embraced a new chapter by moving to the Memphis area. She became one of the pioneering families to settle in Southaven, Mississippi, proudly standing as one of the original families in the community.

A woman of remarkable intellect and strength, Rose was feisty and fiercely professional. She carried herself with punctuality and a sharp mind, never hesitating to embrace life’s adventure with spontaneity and a joyful heart that never minded stepping into a bit of trouble. She was a devoted believer in Jesus, anchoring her life in faith and grace.

Her career was equally distinguished. Rose began as a legal secretary and district administrator for Dictaphone, demonstrating her keen organizational skills and dedication. However, it was her passion for real estate that defined much of her professional legacy. For over 30 years, she thrived as a real estate broker—a role in which she found her greatest happiness and pride.

Beyond her work, Rose had a rich tapestry of interests that added color to her days. She was renowned as a truly gifted cook, enchanting those around her with delicious meals born from love and skill. In her younger years, she found joy in painting and creating ceramics, embracing the artistic expressions of her heart. The quiet moments of playing solitaire also brought her peace and reflection. But more than all her talents, it was her smile, thoughtfulness, and breathtakingly beautiful blue eyes that remain vivid in the hearts of all who loved her.

Rose’s family was her greatest treasure. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bill Brock and Eloise Brock, her dear brother Billy B.B. Brock, and Jim Loftis, the father of her children. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Ken (Kathy) Loftis and David Loftis; grandchildren Kenny (Amy) Loftis and Ricky (Courtney) Loftis; and great-grandchildren Madison Loftis, Savannah Walton, Jack Loftis, and Rylee Loftis. Also sharing in her enduring love is Sandra Ragland, her sitter who became her best friend, along with a host of other family and friends who were blessed by her presence.

The community will honor Rose with a visitation at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, on April 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Another visitation will be held the following day, April 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at West Baptist Church located at 255 Green St., West, MS. The funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at West Cemetery at 3:15 p.m. on the same day.

Rose Marie Brock Loftis Yates’ life was a testament to grace through strength, intelligence, and love. Her radiant smile, her caring heart, and her spirited nature will forever live on in the memories of those privileged to know her.
