Natural and organic definitions for Cosmetics, both describe organically grown from foods that have not been chemically treated. Natural is a substance derived or produced from nature, note that labs can also synthesize things in nature. Organic substances have been derived from something living, such as plants or animals. The terms are often used interchangeably on product labels although some natural products may not be organic. For example, a mask may contain clay which is a natural element but does not come from a living substance.
Some natural animal oils are mink oil, turtle oil, emu and lanolin. Oils from plants or seeds may include almond, coconut, olive oils, shea and cocoa butter, calendula, green tea, lavender, flax, chia, sunflower, aloe vera, rosehip, and jojoba. Vitamins and proteins, fruits and vegetables are also added to beauty products that are advertised as natural or organic.
Whether these therapeutic benefits are rewarding depends on the amount of the ingredient and quality of the substances used. Therefore, some products may not live up to consumer expectations. Results are key to recognizing whether ingredients are quality.
