Honoring two exceptional Harrington Hospital caregivers!

Jeanine Alton, RN and QA Coordinator in the Quality Department, and Dr. Paul Santolucito, Cardiologist, have received Heart of Gold Awards from the American Heart Association for their extraordinary commitment to patient care and community health.

They will be recognized at the Central Massachusetts Heart and Stroke Ball in May, where their impact on our community will be celebrated. Congratulations to you both!

As Heart Month is coming to a close, we’re sharing a powerful reminder of how early action and CPR can save a life.

Last June, Sturbridge trail volunteer Richard Paradise went into cardiac arrest. Two bystanders, including Dr. Christine Carey, a gynecologist at Harrington Hospital who had just renewed her CPR certification, immediately stepped in to help. A responding police officer arrived with an AED and restarted Richard’s heart.

Today, Richard is back on his feet and grateful for the quick thinking that saved his life. Dr. Carey says she felt she was “in the right place for a reason,” and hopes more people will learn CPR and understand the importance of AED access.

On March 4, a ceremony in Sturbridge will honor the bystanders and officer whose actions made all the difference.
