Today marks Labor Day, a holiday observed on the first Monday in September that pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. Created by the labor movement in the late 19th century, Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894. In memory of Adam Faust, a compassionate soul who found purpose in helping others through recovery, the Adam Faust Memorial Fund has been launched at Harrington Hospital.

His legacy now fuels hope and healing for those battling substance use. More than $250,000 was raised to kick off the fund, and 1,300 purple flags were placed in remembrance.

Thank you to the Faust family for turning heartbreak into hope and honoring Adam’s life with such powerful generosity and love.

A Mass. man found purpose in helping others struggling with substance abuse as he recovered himself. But a sleeping pill after a long night killed him, leaving his family to continue his efforts to help.

We’re proud to share that Harrington Hospital has earned the Blue Distinction Center+ designation from Blue Cross Blue Shield for excellence in knee and hip replacement care.

This recognition celebrates high-quality, affordable care and outstanding patient outcomes.

It’s a reflection of the team’s unwavering commitment to safe, compassionate care.

Four UMass Memorial Health hospitals have received the Blue Distinction Specialty Care designation for knee and hip replacement from national health insurer Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS)! The recognition highlights centers that "have demonstrated expertise in total knee and hip replacement surgeries" and "have lower complication rates and fewer hospital readmissions."

UMass Memorial Medical Center, UMass Memorial Health – Harrington Hospital, UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital and UMass Memorial Health – Milford Regional Medical Center were all named Blue Distinction Centers by BCBS. The program, according to BCBS, "evaluates providers on their ability to deliver high quality and safe specialty care based on criteria that directly impact patient results — e.g., surgical team expertise and a history of better outcomes for patients."

Our Harrington Hospital caregivers recently joined Southbridge school open houses to support local families and students!

At Charlton Street School, over 2,300 school supplies—generously donated by our team—were handed out to help students start the year feeling confident and prepared.

At West Street School, families received helpful information about our Child and Family Behavioral Health Services, offering support and resources for emotional wellness and growth.
