Five times saved. One incredible comeback.

Sally Irvine faced lung cancer, sepsis, pneumonia, two comas, and three heart restarts—all in one year.

Now, this fighter is on the mend and back at work as a patient safety observer and patient transporter. This Thanksgiving Day, she will be working alongside the colleagues who prayed for her and in the same hospital where caregivers saved her life, five times over.

“I joke that God kicked me out of heaven five times,” says Sally chuckling. “God didn’t want me because I’m alive now.”

On October 25, Harrington Hospital teamed up with Tri-EPIC for a full-scale hazardous materials exercise—bringing together EMS teams from Charlton, Sturbridge, Southbridge, Douglas, and Woodstock, CT.

This marked the first time an out-of-state EMS agency joined one of our hospital-based drills—a major step toward building interstate partnerships and regional resilience. From decontamination tents to pet care planning, this multi-phase exercise showcased incredible teamwork, adaptability, and preparedness across all participating agencies.

🎃 Huge thank you to everyone who made Friday’s Trunk or Treat event a blast! We had 29 trunks, special guests from UMass Memorial LifeFlight, Medground, Southbridge Police Department, Southbridge Fire Department, and welcomed around 700 kids and families!

This year, the community voted for Best Trunk—and Nursing Administration took the win with their amazing Pirate Cove theme! Check out their trunk below.

At our regular bimonthly TRI-EPIC Regional Emergency Planning Committee meeting, we locked in final details for the upcoming 3-phase functional exercise — a coordinated effort among hospitals, EMS, fire, law enforcement, and public health partners across Southern Worcester County.
