🌻☀️ It’s Sunflower Week at New Beginnings! ☀️🌻

We’ve got a fun-filled week planned with outings, crafts, and learning activities that will keep our clients busy and smiling! 💛

✨ Outings this week:
🌟 9–12 Group: Apple Orchard 🍎 (Sept 16, make-up date) & Kid Power Gymnastics 🤸 (Sept 18)
🌟 12–3 Group: Local Playground 🛝 (Sept 16) & Library 📚 (Sept 19)
🌟 3–6 Group: Creators Club 🎨 (Sept 15), Lego Lady 🧩 (Sept 16), & Library 📖 (Sept 17)

🎨 In Art: We’re making llamas for the Letter of the Week “L” 🦙, crafting sunflower shakers, and creating not one but TWO versions of paper plate sunflowers! 🌻✨

📚 In Learning: Clients will explore the sunflower life cycle, practice counting with a sunflower number game, match letters 🌼, and even dive into sunflower emotion matching 💛🙂🌻.

We can’t wait to grow, learn, and shine together this week! 🌻✨

Today we are celebrating Serenity, our amazing Activities Coordinator! 🎉

From planning fun and meaningful outings, to organizing car seats, doing “van math,” and making sure every detail is covered—Serenity makes it all look easy. Because of her hard work and dedication, our clients get to enjoy so many rich and memorable experiences out in the community. 💙

Nothing says fall like a trip to the apple orchard! 🍂🍏 On Monday our clients had a blast picking apples, exploring, and enjoying the beautiful day. Check out a few of our favorite snapshots! 🍎 Stay tuned later in the week for photos of our Wednesday apple orchard trip too!

🍎 Therapy Tip Tuesday 🍎

This week at New Beginnings is Apple Week, so here’s a fun way to bring learning home!

Apple Slice Emotions:
✨ Cut an apple into slices
✨ Use food-safe markers to draw simple faces (happy, sad, mad, surprised, silly)
✨ Have your child identify each emotion, act it out, or talk about a time they felt that way

💡 Bonus: Let your child “feed” the apple slice to a stuffed animal and practice saying, “He feels happy” or “She feels sad.”

This simple activity builds skills like emotional awareness, expressive language, and perspective-taking—all while keeping it fun (and snack-friendly)! 🍏❤️

🎨 Arts & Crafts

“T” is our letter of the week—we’ll be making a tiger from a T cutout.

Apple-themed creations: caramel apples, cored apples, and worm-in-apple crafts.

🧪 Learning & Sensory Fun

Hands-on apple science: erupting apples, apple sorting, counting & matching, and apple balancing.

Cooking project: homemade applesauce.

Sensory play: apple pie slime, apple-scented playdough, and floating apple boats.

It’s going to be a week full of apples, learning, and fun! 🍎✨

Our theme is Back to School! 🍎✏️ Most of our clients are heading back this week or next—can you believe how quickly summer flew by?

Here’s what we’ll be working on:

📝 Practicing writing our names using pencils, bingo dabbers, crayons, and more

🎨 Creating back-to-school supplies (pencil, crayon box, glue bottle, and crayons) with fun art materials like paint and glue

🔢 Crayon counting

⭐ Magic disappearing shapes

🔤 Unwrapping the alphabet

🔷 Number and shape matching

We’ll be staying in this week as everyone transitions back into routines, but outings will return next week with some fabulous trips!
