Like many people considering a move to a retirement community, George and Lynne were nervous about downsizing. But Pomperaug Woods connected them with Pam Peck, a downsizing specialist — and that made all the difference.
Pam helped them figure out what furniture would work best in their new apartment, and more importantly, how to keep the things that truly mattered to them.

George had spent over 50 years collecting ceramic pharmacies — nearly 80 of them. He chose his 40 favorites, and Pam had custom shelves built in the second bedroom to display them all. And Lynne's beloved Waterford crystal collection? Pam transformed a hall coat closet into a china cabinet, so it's the very first thing guests see when they walk in.

"It means the world to me," said Lynne.

This past Sunday, Connecticut got hit hard — and so did we. But when a major snowstorm rolls in, the Pomperaug Woods team rolls up their sleeves.

Several of our directors and staff stayed overnight Sunday to make sure every resident was safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the storm. And come Monday morning? Continental breakfast was set up by 8:00 a.m., just like any other day.

That's the Pomperaug Woods difference — a team that shows up, no matter what.
We are so proud of the dedicated people who make this community what it is. ❄️💙

It was wonderful spending time with our guests, sharing what LifeCare living is all about and answering all of your questions about our community. Today we said farewell to our Maintenance Supervisor, Brian Francione — and the turnout said it all. Residents and team members alike came out to celebrate someone who has been an integral part of life at Pomperaug Woods for so long.

Brian, your dedication, your dependability, and the genuine care you brought to your work here have meant more than you know. We're so grateful for everything you've done for this community.

Our dining team outdid themselves for Valentine's Day! The cocktail hour featured heart-shaped mozzarella sticks (made from string cheese!), a beautiful charcuterie spread, and homemade marinara that was a hit with everyone. It's the little touches like these that make life at Pomperaug Woods so special. Cheers to our incredible culinary team! ❤️🧀😋

Meet George & Lynne Spratto, our Independent Living residents in the spotlight this month! Ever since moving here a few months ago, they've fallen in love with their new home.

“Now that we’re here, we’re so grateful for all the services that are available to us,” said George. “No need to grocery shop or cook anymore. It’s a pleasure to just walk to the dining room for a meal. The laundry is simplified because our weekly housecleaner also washes all the sheets and towels for us. Such a help! From the Administration team to the Maintenance crew to the Dining staff, I appreciate all the support. It leaves us so much more time to just enjoy life. Moving here was a good choice for us.”
