The team at Nourished Roots Therapy Services will be closed the weeks of December 22nd and December 29th for our holiday break! We will resume normal hours starting January 5th.

Huge milestone for the NRTS gang! This past weekend, we traveled all the way back to Taylor’s beautiful hometown in PA for her wedding!! This weekend was filled with so much love, fun, and absolutely perfect weather. I (Jena) am not trying to sound biased or anything, but she was literally the most stunning bride inside and out. Yes, tears were shed on more than one occasion and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Congratulations to Taylor and Chris on their beautiful marriage! 🤍

Whether you use printed visuals, mouth models, puppets, or mini palatograms, you know how useful visual aids are when teaching clients anywhere from correct oral rest posture, oral anatomy, and correct articulatory placement for certain speech sounds. The benefits of using mouth models include:

1. Visual Aid for Understanding Articulation
2. Enhanced Engagement and Comprehension
3. Support for Diverse Learning Styles
4. Improves Therapist Explanations
5. Encourages Client Self-Monitoring
6. Useful for Multilingual and Hearing-Impaired Clients

Today is National Speech Pathologist Day and we’re highlighting NRTS’s co-founder and SLP, Jena!

Jena received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University in 2015 and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from East Carolina University in 2017. She has 8 years of experience working with children and adults in the private practice setting, hospital, and independent living facilities. Her passion areas include feeding and swallowing skills, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and speech sound disorders. Her goal is finding the root cause of her patients’ difficulties and improving function in their day to day lives.

In her down time (when she has it), she loves spending time with all of her pets and watercolor paint.
