This is an informative short article on one of my favorite subjects-breathing.
Focusing on slowing down your breathing when you feel stressed is one of the most useful things you can teach yourself and apply to help you manage stressful times.

And remember first-unclench your damn jaw.

Still next time be well.

Credit: Amin Mohaejri“Take a deep breath.” You’ve probably heard that advice—before a big exam, a tough conversation or when you’re feeling overwhelmed. And if you’ve ever noticed that it actually helps, you’re not imagining it. Your body has a built-in system for finding calm, and bre...

Doing 10-20 calf raises every few hours during the day will improve the circulation to the entire body. And add 30 seconds of contracting and releasing the hands to get the blood flowing better in the upper body and you have a simply and highly effective method improving blood circulation.

The calf muscles—especially the soleus and gastrocnemius—function as a “second heart” by helping push blood from the legs back toward the heart.

When they contract, the veins are compressed, and one‑way valves ensure blood moves upward. This action supports venous return and prevents blood from pooling in the lower extremities.

If activity is limited, the calf pump weakens, increasing risks of DVT, varicose veins, and chronic venous issues.

Because the soleus muscle is well-suited for endurance, it is particularly effective at sustaining the pump over time.

Strengthening and stretching the calves—via exercises like calf raises and calf stretches—enhances their function, helping maintain healthy circulation, reduce blood pressure, and protect against clot formation.

Big changes are sometimes necessary and good to do but achieving health is mostly about your daily habits and choices.

The biggest difference between the modern Western Medicine (WM) model and the Chinese Medicine model (CM) is that the CM model is based on being healthy and staying healthy and the current WM model waits until systems are functioning poorly or not at all before starting any treatments.

So besides just using acupuncture to treat your aches and pains both acute and chronic (back/spine, neck, shoulder, elbows, wrists, hand, knees, ankles and feet) CM focuses on your overall health.

Chinese Herbal Medicine along with nutritional and lifestyle changes are some of the other modalities used in CM to address your health concerns.

I like treating digestive disorders. Everything from simple digestive discomfort to IBS and IBD (Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis etc).

If you have aches, pains, arthritis, stress, anxiety or digestive problems give us a call at 920-692-8049 or message us and we will be glad to discuss your health concerns.

Stress and anxiety are one of the main reasons people often come in for treatment.
Perfectionism and overworking are often contributing factors. Also trying to meet someone else’s expectations for you can cause a lot of stress and anxiety.

It’s good to slow down and reflect on why we are doing what we are doing. And is it benefiting or harming oneself and those around you.

I’m going to start posting some content and join this century.

It will be random thoughts and randomly timed posts (that’s how my brain works) about health and Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture. (Or other random thoughts)

So today’s post is one of my favorite sayings in clinic and one I frequently tell myself.

The question is not can/could I do this thing but SHOULD I do this thing.
It applies to all ages but is especially helpful to high mileage people and those of us with more life experience (AARP card holders).

By asking yourself should I do this thing/activity you can often save yourself some aches, pains and illnesses.
A real life example from a patient- should I get on this ladder to clear ice off of my second story roof. No you shouldn’t have (it will melt) but since you did now we have become great friends.

So if you or someone you know does that thing anyway and needs some help recovering from the consequences of their actions give me a call at 910-692-8049 or message me through this app and I’ll help pin you back together.

Stay safe and be well
