THIS WEEK: creeping the weight up into the 85-90% range but protecting form and getting more out of each set with cluster sets.

🏃‍♂️Expect a lot of erg training in your HYROX classes over the next several weeks until the weather breaks and we can all get back outside to where we really want to be for our runs.

🔥 TOMORROW, Monday 2/2, we ARE planning on running all classes per the normal schedule (reserving the right to pivot if something goes sideways last minute)

Please use extra caution when driving in and get here safe. Warm weather you will thank cold weather you for continuing to train through the sucky months.

SO PROUD of these two. They came to us just 8 short weeks ago with big goals for their Phoenix HYROX race. Every week, for 8 weeks, they have worked closely with Coach and dedicated 5-6 training days per week to their custom HYROX cross training program. They never missed check ins, strength sessions or runs…even over the Christmas holiday. And this morning all of their effort paid off. Hitting their personal goal and finishing at 1:18.

Now looking forward to watching our men’s pro athlete on Saturday!

THIS WEEK: We’re staying within moderate rep/set/load ranges, with a focus on end range strength and building power from the bottom of the rep.

❄️🌨️ PLEASE NOTE: all Monday morning, January 26th, classes and open gym are cancelled.

Our sidewalks and parking lot have been salted and with rising temperatures and a little sunshine by mid-day Monday, we’re anticipating a 3pm opening to resume normal evening class schedule.

We are as bummed as you. But in an abundance of caution, we are cancelling all MONDAY, JANUARY 26th MORNING classes and open gym in the effort to keep our team and members safe with more predicted rain and cold temperatures over night.

✅ We have salted the sidewalks and with forecasted rising temperatures and even a little sun ☀️tomorrow afternoon we plan to reopen open gym tomorrow tomorrow at 3pm and resume evening classes as regularly scheduled.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience and if you’re normally an am athlete…shake things up a bit and get in your training session in the pm.

For over 15 years, some of and ‘s favorite memories have been training and competing side by side. The gym became their date night, where they grew together, and the place they learned to take on hard things together. The strength they built there has shaped how they face life’s challenges. That experience now fuels one of their primary missions at Workhorse: helping other couples build stronger bodies, stronger bonds, and stronger lives.

But don’t just take their word for the benefits that come from training together, the proof is literally in the research...

A study published in the JOURNAL OF SOCIAL AND PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS found that couples who exercise together reported:
✅ Better mood during workouts
✅ Better mood throughout the day
✅ Higher relationship satisfaction
✅ More adherence to a training program

A study in PubMed reports;
Research with married couples shows that joint health behaviors, including exercising together, are linked to greater health satisfaction, fewer depressive symptoms, and closer similarity in health outcomes between partners.

📢 Important notes: we’re not JUST assessing increased loads.
✅ Greater range of motion is also progress.
✅ More control and stability through the lift is also progress.
✅ Less compensatory patterns is also progress.
✅ More confidence in the lift is also progress

❌ Working to a heavy single not for you this quarter? No problem. Our coaches can also give you equations to figure out your 1RM based on a heavy two or three rep range.

❌ Don’t want to go as far as a heavy three, also not a problem. We’ll have you work in regular moderate to heavy reps and sets schemes.

Just show up. And we’ll meet you where you want to be.

‼️ Also, there will be coffee, muffins, and charcuterie treats on Friday after training sessions. Who would miss that?!

Everyone should experience the training method—whether as a standalone focus or as a powerful complement to your strength program.

But if your goal is to compete in an actual event—and perform, not just finish—where and who you train with matters.

⁉️Key questions to ask:
1️⃣ Is the coach HYROX HQ–trained and certified, with ongoing continuing education?

2️⃣ Has the coach competed in multiple official HYROX events—and performed well? Experience matters.

3️⃣ Does the facility have official HYROX equipment (Concept2 SkiErgs and rowers, competition-length turf, comparable sleds, wall ball targets, etc.)? These details will matter on race day.

4️⃣ Is run programming provided by qualified, experienced coaches, if at all?

5️⃣ Is there access to—or a partnership with—a certified sports nutritionist for training and race-day fueling guidance?

If you answered no to any of these, you’re not setting yourself up for optimal success.

Anyone with a fitness foundation can train, race, and have fun.

But there is a difference between doing fine and having fun vs. training, performing, and placing like an experienced HYROX athlete. 🤌🏼
