Early Life and Activism: Shakur was born in New York City and became involved in political activism during the 1960s and 70s, participating in the Black Power and Black Liberation movements.

Black Liberation Army:
She joined the Black Liberation Army, an underground group that engaged in armed struggle against the government.
1973 Turnpike Incident: In 1973, Shakur was involved in a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike where a state trooper and Zayd Shakur were unalived.

Shakur was convicted of the trooper’s unaliving but escaped from prison in 1979.

She fled to Cuba in 1984 and was granted political asylum.

In 2005, the FBI designated her as a domestic terrorist and placed her on their Most Wanted Terrorist List.

Shakur is also known as the step-aunt of the late rapper Tupac Shakur.
