A heartfelt thank you to Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) for generously opening their doors to us!

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to host a foster care and adoption informational lunch-and-learn in your space, and for inviting your staff to be part of this important conversation. Partnerships like this help us reach more compassionate individuals who can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and youth.

The need for supportive, informed caregivers is greater than ever, especially as we work to meet the growing mental and physical health needs of children in foster care. Together, we can ensure every child has the care, stability, and support they deserve.

This month, we’re proud to recognize Sandra Edwards for her many years of thoughtful support through gift card donations. Time and time again, her generosity has helped meet immediate, everyday needs for the children and families we serve, providing comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy during challenging times.

We are so grateful for her consistent kindness and the meaningful difference she continues to make.

Sometimes one social media post can change a young person’s future. 💙

After seeing one of our social media posts, a family reached out about a teenage girl served by our Adoption Resource Consultants (ARC) program. ARC connected with them right away, helped them understand the process of foster care and adoption, and coordinated with the team so they could visit this youth and start building a supportive connection. There were bumps along the way, but our ARC team knows how to stay engaged, follow up, keep lines of communication open, and make sure connections don’t get lost. Because of their expertise and dedication, this family is now taking the next steps by getting licensed to provide a home for this youth and is considering offering her permanency through adoption.

💙 March is Social Worker Month, and we are proud to celebrate the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to making a difference every single day.

Social workers are the heart of our communities; advocating, supporting, and empowering children and families through some of life’s most challenging moments. Their compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment truly change the world.

This month, our Placement Services supervisory staff showed a little extra appreciation by treating our amazing social workers to games, notes of appreciation, gifts, and a week of sweets, as just a small way to say THANK YOU for the big impact they make every day! 🍬✨

About Us

A little more than fifty years ago Orchards Children’s services was established by the Greater Detroit Section of the National Council of Jewish Women. The founders recognized the need to improve the lives of children. This small, courageous group of women dared to question how things had been done. They believed that practices of the past were insufficient. They dared to challenge the status quo and begin something new. The founders of the Orchards looked back and plotted a course to move forward. It is doubtful that even those remarkable people who had the vision and courage to develop a new course could have foreseen the Orchards Children’s services of today.
