For the past 20 years, a group of local hockey players of varying skill levels team up each year as the UCP Pucksters and take on the The Detroit Red Wing Alumni. The game benefits MI-UCP and the 1.4 Michiganders with disabilities.

Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day! A day where we bring awareness and advocate for people with cerebral palsy to live a Life Without Limits.

There are more than 17 million people across the world living with cerebral palsy. Another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. Many people with cerebral palsy have other related vision, hearing, communication and mobility needs. Its impact can range from a weakness in one hand, to almost a complete lack of voluntary movement.

This month we celebrate the advocates and history of LGBTQ+ figures in the US that fought for equal rights and continue to advocate for their community. This includes disabled q***r advocates who fought on more than one front to have their rights recognized.

It's fall and it's time to Try Adaptive Hockey! We are excited this year to team up with Kim Muir Can't Skate, Can't Play. In addition to having the opportunity to try sled hockey, those with physical and/or cognitive impairments will have the opportunity to try adaptive stand-up hockey.

Thank you to all who made it out or donated to MIUCP Charity Hockey Event featuring Detroit Red Wings Alumni and Belle Tire Sled Hockey at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Athletic Complex - Dombrowski Fieldhouse Ice Arena all benefiting MI - UCP (Michigan United Cerebral Palsy). This was our 22nd Charity Hockey Event and resulted in more than $40,000 raised which goes directly to the prorgams and services MI-UCP provides for the 2.3 million Michiganders who live with a disability. I am so proud to be a board member of MI - UCP (Michigan United Cerebral Palsy) and the organizer of the 22nd MIUCP Charity Hockey Event featuring Belle Tire Sled Hockey and the Detroit Red Wings Alumni -. The event is Saturday March 16th at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Athletic Complex - Dombrowski Fieldhouse Ice Arena. Sled hockey at 4pm The Alumni vs the MI-UCP Pucksters at 6pm FREE admission.
