New research out from of Michigan indicates new weight loss drugs may do more than shrink the size of your waist....

A cutting-edge mouse study reveals that tirzepatide, the dual GLP-1/GIP drug already hailed for impressive weight loss, does more than trim fat: it slashes the growth of obesity-linked breast tumors. University of Michigan researchers found mice lost about 20 % body weight and adipose tissue while t...

"You have to be your own advocate." 💗
Local breast cancer surgeon and survivor Dr. Shoshana Hallowell (Shoshana DeAnn) recently spoke with TheDetroitNews about something every woman should know: breast density matters.

For women with dense breast tissue, cancer can be harder to detect on a mammogram alone—but you have options.

Dr. Hallowell shares her powerful story to remind women that asking about supplemental screening could make all the difference. Ultrasound. MRI. These tools exist, and they save lives.

👉 If you have dense breasts, don’t hesitate. Ask your doctor what additional screenings are right for you.

Your life is worth the extra look.

Advocates say uneven coverage is a barrier for women, and many can't afford to pay out of pocket for additional screenings.

Did you know breast density can impact your risk for breast cancer? 🧬💗

Women with dense breast tissue have a higher risk of developing breast cancer, that’s why it’s so important to know your breast density and talk to your doctor about whether you might benefit from supplemental screening like ultrasound or MRI.

🩺 Ask your doctor:
➡️ What is my breast density?
➡️ How does it affect my cancer risk?
➡️ Should I consider additional screening?

Knowledge is power—and early detection saves lives.

Don’t wait. Start the conversation at your next appointment.

About

The Tri-County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) is a community-based partnership created to help provide uninsured or under-insured individuals who face high out of pocket costs due to insurance deductibles full access to breast and cervical cancer screenings. We are one of the 11 regional programs authorized by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to accomplish this goal. Since 1992 the Tri-County BCCCP has provided over 120,000 free breast and cervical cancer screenings to local women. In addition to screening services we also provide needed follow up and help arrange treatment through our network of over 40 participating clinics and hospitals.
