After 10 years, she's not just a coworker retiring — she's family.
Our office will never be the same without her generous heart and spirit, laughter and constant care for everyone who walked through our doors. She has touched so many lives, from patients to staff, and we’re endlessly grateful for the love and dedication she has given our practice. While we’ll miss her more than words can say, we’re so excited for this next chapter of her life. Wishing you joy, health, and all the happiness you deserve in retirement. We are a donation site for a project for the 5th grade class at Johnson Elementary School in Fort Thomas. Their driving question is, “How can the community of Fort Thomas and surrounding areas reduce the impact of humans on habitat loss for gorillas?" Their project involves collecting old electronics to be recycled.

In the Dominican Republic of Congo in Africa, workers are mining coltan for electronics that we use in our everyday life. Coltan is used in the battery of electronics to help hold the charge. They are mining in gorilla’s habitats causing deforestation and habitat loss. Now, there are about 1,063 gorillas left in the wild. If gorillas go extinct, there will be a domino effect in our biodiversity that could also affect humans.

Did you know that the coltan in your electronics can be reused? When people throw away their electronics (also known as e-waste) it forces more coltan to be mined. E-waste is VERY toxic. There are 750,000,000 devices in the world that are not being used. If we recycled all of those devices, it can make a big impact on the environment and even the entire world!

Johnson Elementary has recently partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo and a company called Eco-Cell that will recycle old or broken devices we collect. Any money that Eco-cell gets from the e-waste they recycle goes directly back to conservation efforts for gorillas through the Cincinnati Zoo.
