Happy International Women’s Day to the people who keep my life whole & afloat. It is truly because of you that the world goes round. It is because of the women before me that I have the right to vote, own a home, own a business, have a bank account, and my own bodily autonomy. These are shockingly recent milestones; I am one of the lucky ones to have been born into these rights that women fought so hard for.

We are all built out of pieces of the people we admire. To my mother, sister, cousins, aunts, second mom, teachers, classmates, team mates, business partner, friends, local female-owned small business community, yogis, clients, acquaintances, and otherwise, thank you for molding me into who I am today. I don’t have pictures with a lot of you, but I love this life because of you. Thank you for lighting up rooms, for taking up space in places never meant for you, for laughing loudly, for calling people on their s**t, for carrying the societally invisible weight of being mothers, wives, and caretakers. Thank you for showing up when it wasn’t easy, even if you had no other choice.

I love you and I hope you’re celebrating each other today. The human race would have been toast a long time ago without the girlies.
