Today, we had the honor of celebrating our Summit veterans with a delicious lunch generously donated by MISSION BBQ

Katelyn, Community Ambassador, brought an incredible spread of meats, sides, rolls, and cornbread that everyone truly enjoyed. A special thank you to Larry Ireland from the American Legion for helping make this meaningful gathering possible, and to State Representative Chris Poulos for joining us and for your continued support of our veterans.

It is always our privilege to recognize and honor those who have served.

This Administrators Week, we proudly recognize Doug Melanson for his leadership and dedication to our community at The Summit at Plantsville.

Doug’s journey in long-term care began at just 18 years old and has grown into a career defined by commitment, growth, and a deep passion for resident-centered care. Through years of experience and continued education, he has built a path of leadership rooted in compassion, service, and excellence.

We are grateful for Doug’s guidance and proud to have a leader who puts residents, families, and staff at the heart of everything we do.

St. Patrick’s Day at Summit at Plantsville was filled with shenanigans, fun, and so much delicious food. Residents and staff showed off their festive spirit dressed in green, setting the tone for a day full of energy and connection.

The morning took residents on a travelogue through Ireland, complete with beautiful sights and traditional music that brought the experience to life. Everyone enjoyed Irish soda bread, and some residents even kicked off our very first Monthly Takeout Tuesday with seafood from Sam the Clam—a tasty new tradition in the making.

The afternoon kept the celebration going with live music from Gary Andreadis and St. Patrick’s Day–decorated cupcakes that were almost too cute to eat. Staff joined in the fun as well, enjoying green bagels and sharing in the festive cheer.

We also took a special moment to recognize and honor our incredible HR Director, LaTonya Powell. Her dedication to our team, her willingness to go the extra mile, and her ability to support anyone who needs it truly set her apart. As a vital part of our Sunshine Committee, LaTonya’s infectious smile and uplifting spirit brighten every room she enters. We are so grateful to have her as part of our Summit family. ☘️

Yesterday we celebrated Goddard Day, honoring Thomas Goddard, the inventor of the rocket. 🚀

Our residents got creative in the morning making their own rockets, and in the afternoon the fun really took off as we launched them together! A wonderful day of creativity, learning, and laughter.

Karaoke is always a favorite, but yesterday’s gathering made it even more special.

Residents were joined by some wonderful guests, including Tracey and her daughter Levi, volunteers from Sober Southington, along with Eddie, the son of one of our residents. It was a joyful afternoon filled with music, laughter, and plenty of sing-alongs.

We love when family, friends, and community members join us and take part in our programs—it makes the moments we share even more meaningful. 🎤

Music filled The Summit with joy over the past two days! 🎶

Yesterday afternoon, Larry Batter brought wonderful energy with his performance, and residents also enjoyed the music of Jim Hatkins.

Today, our Legacy Living community was delighted by the accordion melodies of Mary Morse. As always, she arrived with several accordions, her beautiful voice, and a spirit that lights up the room. And of course—no music day would be complete without a little karaoke!
