In February Dr. Dodd and colleague, Liz Woodruff, presented at the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals annual conference. Their talk, A Psychoanalytic Understanding of Eating Disorders in Athletes: Defensive and Facilitative Potentials, explored the complex relationship between trauma, our relationship to food and our bodies, sport, and the role of depth psychology in understanding and treating eating disorders. They hope this work can be used to examine the defensive and facilitative functions of our relationships to food and our bodies.
