1 month after rhinoplasty 👃

Even early on, subtle changes can make a dramatic difference.

Smoothing a small dorsal convexity, narrowing a wide midvault, and refining a bulbous tip helps the nose blend more naturally with the rest of the face.

There’s still swelling at this stage, and the nose will continue to refine over the coming months—but the improved balance is already taking shape.

✨ Why does it take a full year to see the final result after rhinoplasty?
•
Rhinoplasty is a procedure where we reshape the underlying bone and cartilage of the nose. While the structural changes happen during surgery, the skin and soft tissues need time to settle over that new framework.
•
After surgery, swelling is normal—especially in the nasal tip. The skin in this area is thicker and less elastic, which means it holds onto swelling longer than other parts of the face.
Here’s the typical timeline:
• First few weeks: Most of the obvious swelling improves
• 3–6 months: The nose starts to look more refined
• 9–12 months: The tip definition sharpens and the final shape emerges
•
In patients with thicker skin, subtle changes can continue even beyond a year.
•
Patience is one of the hardest parts of the rhinoplasty journey, but it’s also why long-term follow-up photos are so important—the nose you see at 3 months is often very different from the one at 12 months.

Capsular contracture after a 40-year-old breast implant.

Whenever a breast implant is placed, the body naturally forms a layer of scar tissue around it called a capsule. Normally that capsule stays soft and flexible. But sometimes, over time, it can tighten and thicken, squeezing the implant.

This is called capsular contracture, and it can cause:
• breast firmness
• distortion of shape
• discomfort or pain

In cases like this, treatment usually involves removing the implant and the surrounding capsule (called a capsulectomy) and placing a new implant if the patient desires.

The good news is that implants and surgical techniques have come a long way in the past 40 years. Modern implants have improved shells, better gel technology, and lower rates of complications compared to earlier generations.

Breast implants are not lifetime devices, and this case is a good reminder that implants placed decades ago may eventually need to be replaced or removed.

Medicine evolves — and so do the tools we use to take care of patients.

I performed an upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty with facial fat grafting to refresh, rejuvenate, and give this beautiful patient a well-rested look. I also removed a mole on the right scalp just within the hairline. See it?

Facelift, neck lift, facial fat grafting. 😍 what’s my favorite thing about her result?
•
Look at the transverse lines on the front of her neck in the before frontal image. Gone! These lines are the result of neck skin and muscular laxity, or looseness. The neck lift component of this procedure addressed each layer of the soft tissues: skin, subcutaneous adipose, platysma muscle, and sub-platysma fullness. This was balanced with a lift of the SMAS in the face to rejuvenate the jawline, improve the jowling, and restore volume back to the middle third of the face.

Dorsal aesthetic lines are defined by a light reflex from the medial brow to the nasal tip. They should be curvilinear, narrow, and symmetric. Many patients may report this as being unhappy with the width or the size of the nose.
•
This patient underwent a primary open rhinoplasty to narrow and reduce the bridge, refine the tip, and lift the tip.
•

Plastic surgery after massive weight loss. 🤩

I am seeing more and more patients in my clinic who have lost A LOT of weight. This patient lost 150 lbs after having a sleeve gastrectomy (gastric sleeve) but I’m also seeing patients getting similar results with GLP-1 drugs (ozempic, mounjaro, wegovy). “I don’t want to look like a different person.” 🙅‍♀️ I hear this all the time from my facial rejuvenation patients - and that’s a GOOD thing! Facial rejuvenation is not about changing your identity. If anything, it’s about restoring your identity. Patients want to look as good as they feel, not like someone else entirely.

This patient underwent a facelift, necklift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, and a full face erbium laser resurfacing.
•
Is erbium the same as a CO2 laser? Great question! No, erbium is similar to a CO2 laser in that both target water in the skin. However, an erbium laser has a 1000x higher affinity for water and therefore has a much smaller zones of injury. This means I can be much more precise with an erbium laser. The laser takes off several of the top layers of the skin to improve tone and complexion. This helps significantly with those age spots and sun spot, fine wrinkles, and crepey skin through the face.
